(RTTNews) - CORRECTION: The alleged attacker of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been identified, a local TV report said in a report Monday night.
The attacker was believed to have been killed in the suicide attack on Bhutto on December 27 in the eastern Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, some 30 kms south of the capital Islamabad. More than 20 other people were also killed and dozens were injured in the attack.
Pakistani police conducted raids and arrested several people in Swabi in the North West Frontier Province, where the attacker is believed to have lived.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party workers said an absconding servant of slain former premier, who aroused suspicion with his “strange gestures” while Bhutto was delivering her last address in Rawalpindi last week, could provide a clue to her killing.
Khalid Shahinshah has gone underground ever since footage emerged of the strange gestures he had made while standing on the dais next to Bhutto while she addressed an election rally. Bhutto hired him on the recommendation of her security advisor Rahman Malik. Shahinshah was standing on Bhutto’s left during her speech and ran a finger across his throat, a sign of slitting the throat.
Security officials, who have expressed concern at his “suspicious gestures,” which could not be ignored told The News that his arrest could “provide answers to many questions”.
PPP workers said after Bhutto’s speech, Shahinshah was in a hurry to get inside her bulletproof vehicle and did not hold the door open for the former premier.
After Bhutto’s assassination, Shahinshah stayed at Zardari House, her home in Islamabad, for two days but did not attend Bhutto’s funeral in her ancestral village of Naudero in Sindh province. He went there only on the third day after her death, The News reported.
Meanwhile, a five-member team from Britain’s Scotland Yard joined Pakistani sleuths Saturday to probe the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. The team from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter-Terrorism Command was briefed by Pakistani anti-terror experts on the progress of the investigations conducted so far into Bhutto’s killing.Caretaker Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz Khan said the British team would be given “complete freedom” to conduct its probe. “We will let them work as they want to work,” he said.

If I am correct he was the leader of PSF once in late 80 or 90, beside Nisar Satti, Najib and him were the sign of terrors in Colleges and Universities...

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry Tuesday brushed aside the apprehensions regarding restraints and restrictions being put on the visiting Scotland Yard team, presently engaged in investigating the assassination of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
The spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Brig (R) Javed Iqbal Cheema, said that the Scotland Yard team is absolutely free in their investigations. “There are no restrictions of any sort on them. This morning they also met with the president and expressed their gratitude because they enjoyed full support and freedom in the investigations. And they have expressed their commitment that they will be able to reach the facts behind this incident,” he said.
**He denied the reports that the person who fired at Ms Benazir Bhutto was identified and some arrests were made from Swabi in the NWFP in this connection and urged the media to avoid speculations while reporting. “There is no truth in this. So far the suicide bomber has not been identified. Neither there are any arrests made in this connection nor anybody has been brought to Islamabad,” he said.

He said that the investigations are progressing and the Scotland Yard team is assisting the probe. “We should all await the results of the investigation which the government will share with the people,” he added.
“The Scotland Yard team is very professional and includes experts in crime scene investigations, forensics, and evidence analyzing. Their mandate is to assist the Government of Pakistan to find out the reasons behind the martyrdom of Mohtarma [Benazir Bhutto], the exact cause of death and also to see as to what other motivators could be there,” he said.
To a question, Cheema said that no new Exit Control List was issued as there was no such need. “The people who were with Mohtarma at that time [of the incident] and those who were present on the scene are all here. So, this (issuance of new ECL) was not felt,” he added.
He said the Scotland Yard investigators were free to meet anybody. “They are meeting the doctors, talking to the witnesses who were present there. May be they will also meet the leadership of the PPP. They are working independently and freely. They are moving from the crime scene to the criminals. They are going in a very systematic manner and are progressing well,” Cheema said.
To a question, he said that no time frame was laid down. “We have made a request to them to wrap up these investigations as soon as possible, and present the facts before the people,” he said. Answering a question he said that the Scotland Yard team was ‘absolutely satisfied’ with the security provided to them.
Regarding the PPP demand for investigations by a UN team, the Interior Ministry spokesman said that right from the beginning it was being demanded that a team should be called from outside. “Scotland Yard team has an international reputation,” he said.
About the possibility of the postmortem of Ms Benazir Bhutto, he said the government has no objection. He also denied that the ‘Medical Report’ was changed. “All these are speculations. There is no truth in these,” he added.
Regarding President Musharraf’s meeting with Scotland Yard team, Cheema said: “The president asked them not to leave any stone unturned and whatever the facts are behind the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto should be brought before the masses.
In his opening statement, Brig (R) Cheema, who is also the Director-General of the National Crisis Management Cell, said that in all, 35 districts across the country have been declared as sensitive during the month of Moharram and instructions have been issued to the provincial governments to maintain sectarian harmony, peace and order during that month.
He said the government has taken all precautionary measures to ensure safety of sectarian leaders as well as Imambargahs and processions during Moharram, and the government has beefed up the deployment of security personnel in sensitive areas across the country, keeping in view the main activities that take place throughout this sacred month. He also said that the ‘Ashura Peace Committees’ have also been activated down to city/town levels.
About the on-going operation in Swat Valley against the militants, he said it would continue till the people are able to live in peace and tranquility and conduct their normal commercial and daily activities without undue fear. To a question, Cheema said that a second thought could be given to stop the operation in Swat only if the extremists give up their activities.

I bet Mr 10% hired the's servant's assisstance to have his own wife killed. He was probably fed of her telling him what to do. Afterall, they say hubby and wifey were having plenty of rows in their last few days together.
