Bhuna Gosht :)

I made this today for my family with plain rice and daal. ( i was going to make corriander chicken but didnt have some ingredients)

anyway it turned out great and my dad and bro loved it!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup oil
Whole garam masala- zeera, whole peppercorns, cloves, bayleaves, cinnamon stick and green iliachie
1 large onion
1 table spoon ginger garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon haldi
2-3 green chillies
1/2 cup yoghurt
lamb- i used enough to feed a family of 4 im really sorry i dont know the weight…
corrainder powder 1 tablespoon
chilli powder 1 teaspoon ( or to taste)
salt to taste
Tomatos finely chopped

Ok so first marinade the lamb in the yoghurt as it tenderizes it.

In the oil fry the whole garam masala until the zeera starts popping, add the finely sliced onion and saute until brown, turn the head down low to prevent the onions getting darker or burning add ginger garlic paste, haldi, green chillies and fry, then add the lamb and yoghurt and fry the lamb for a few seconds, add the corriander powder and chilli powder and water and cover and cook on a gentle heat for 45 mins until the lamb has ‘galed’ or use a pressure cooker!

Ok now you have to bhun the gosht and masala until it is very dry then add tomatos and cover for a bit and serve!

If you want more gravy add a little water at the end.

I took my inspiration from the video from vah chef but i added touches such as yoghurt and tomatos from my nanis recipe

i want bhuna gosht tooooo :teary2: but i cant find good mutton where i live … i tried once like months ago … and EEWWWW!!! … oh i love mutton! :yummy:

Re: Bhuna Gosht :)

try asking for a young lamb...so much better than mutton thats what we do here, the mutton smells bad but the lamb tastes so good!

Re: Bhuna Gosht :)

alvena, try using sabath corriander rather than corriander powder.. it'll taste even better!

Re: Bhuna Gosht :)

alvena what part of the lamb and beef should i ask the butcher if i want to make bhuna gosht or biryani?

Re: Bhuna Gosht :)

alvena thx for the recipe sounds yummy!

Re: Bhuna Gosht :)

farrah...if you ask for the lamb ask for shoulder or leg of lamb cut into small pieces.

Im not sure about beef.

sadzz...the corriander is really important while cooking the meat down, but mixing in a bit of fresh corriander at the end does give it a lift!
