@the kaur the question arises why Gondi & Bhili having sizable number of speakers not included in 8th schedule. There was a post on fb shared by Muqawwee where I learned Sindhi speakers collected literature, cited their contribution in freedom struggle to get Sindhi scheduled. Bhils also contributed in freedom struggle. They revolted in 1817-19, 1825, 1836 and 1846. They have leaders like Sewaram and Tantya Bhil to cite. There was no genuine political will at the time of Sindhi inclusion, it was struggle of it’s speakers. Why Bhils & Gonds lagged behind? Is it because they are tribal people, not wealthy like Sindhis or don’t have political influence? It is strange that you saw advertisements in Urdu in South India (yet think it is declining) and didn’t in northern India, where most of the Urdu newspapers are being published, and Govts (like in Southern India) use Urdu as official language in Urdu speaking areas. I guess number of Urdu newspapers are not less (if not more) than Punjabi, Gujrati, Malyalam or any such language. @muqawwee123 how do we know that a script is in danger. Is it because it’s literature work is translated to the prevailent script which is read by large number of people? Certainly Urdu script has less market value than Devnagri script because Devnagri is the script of the official language of Union but it doesn’t mean that Urdu script is in danger at the time when lots of newspapers are being published, govt using it for official purposes, news channels are there. We can say languages like tulu are in danger. Urdu Newspapers

Please go through this video. Gulzar saheb is saying that Urdu is in danger due to fact Indian new generation does not know its script.
