It is much easier to do business in Pakistan than in India.
A new report, co-sponsored by World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, says south Asian economies are increasing the pace of reform to help small and medium businesses generate more jobs, but heavy legal burdens on business still remain in most of the countries of the region. The report has ranked Pakistan as the top reformer in the region and number 10 globally. It has been ranked 60th among the overall performers.
Pakistan is a better place to start business because it is reducing the cost to register property, increasing penalties for violation of corporate rules and replacing a requirement to license every shipment with two-year duration licenses for traders.
India has been placed at 116 - 25 places behind China and behind all south Asian countries, except Afghanistan, in the overall ease of doing business.
The south Asian country rankings highlight significant obstacles, including administrative hurdles to import and export and delays and costs to register property. In India, an entrepreneur must submit 15 documents and get 27 signatures to import goods.
However, India made noteworthy reforms to credit registries and enforcement of collateral law, making it easier for businesses to get new finance. Counting the good things, the report says India has significantly improved the process to enforce collateral agreements with a new summary judgment procedure that requires only minimal court involvement. A new consumer credit bureau was launched, making it easier for lenders to evaluate creditworthiness. Stamp duties to register property too fell from 10 per cent to 5 per cent.

question is, why are more ppl starting businesses in india than pakistan? is it because pakistanis are too obsessed with india to do anything on their own? or is it because they are farmers by mentality?

Bij-ness-es started in Bharat when they got rid of Commie leftie policies during the time of Narasimha Rao. However the subject report simply points out the fact that Pakistani government has done better job in updating policies. There are specific e-jamples in the article. Read those before spouting ignorance on the net.

you didnt answer, aunty. why is no one starting anything more exciting than sugar mills in pakistan while india has its own silicon valley? pakistan has it easier to start businesses from what you say. maybe pakistanis are just too busy milking their buffalos. :)

shweetdreamz, nothing wrong with being a farmer, i am one too in more ways than one. however, when staking claims to being a great place to open a business, it does sound odd that no one does so. i wouldnt have brought this up hadnt aunty bulbul wanted to bash india.

You wont be the first Indian to do so your government policy was to support the tamil tigers( LTTE) and their suicide bombings in srilanka.what happened in srilanka stopped it or some fellow indian has taken that job from you

^^It is not just the direct price in terms of fees etc. Business friendly regulations are the key in successful economy. Pakistan finally got it done. This is definitely something to be proud off (well for Pakistanis. Bharatis on this forum may burn with rage).
