Better knowledge of Bollywood could save you some money :-)

A better knowledge of Bollywood could have saved Kenneth Corley $1,400.

“Have you seen this woman?”

The American was bowled over when an Indian lady he had met over the internet sent him some photos of herself.

He liked the pictures so much he invited her to visit him in the US - but the lady said she did not have enough money.

Mr Corley immediately transferred $1,400 to help pay for her travel expenses - and never heard from her again.

Mr Corley emailed police in the Indian capital, Delhi, asking them if they could trace the 28-year-old woman, who had said her name was Anita Choud.

To help them identify her, he attached the photos she had sent him.

Delhi police had a look at them, and immediately realised all was not as it seemed.

The woman in the photos was unmistakeably the well-known Bollywood actress and one-time Miss World, Aishwarya Rai.

“It seems that Mr Corley has been taken for a ride, but we are investigating and have asked him to send us more details,” said a senior police officer in Delhi. :hehe:

A deputy commissioner of police in Delhi, Deependra Pathak, said the lady had told Mr Corley she was the daughter of an Italian mother and an Indian father.

She also said she knew an acquaintance of Mr Corley’s in Delhi, and claimed to be teaching English and Geography at a Delhi elementary school.

Mr Corley said in his email that he did not know whether he had been conned, or if the woman had been hurt by the fact that he sent her the money.

PS :- Please dont bash me for posting Bollywood news, I just wanted to help some of you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Even if the gal had sent her own pics... for a guy to send $1,400 to a girl in a foreign country based on some internet-based interaction.. is loony. He deserved to lose the $1,400 and more. What an idiot!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lol...he should hav asked the lady for her address...and should have met her visiting India.Atleast he would hav had the satisfaction of having spent the money for himself.hahaha!

So...how much is $1400 in India?

I had a cousin in Pakistan who used to do this kind of thing... she would chat to ignorant Americans online and send pictures of a Bollywood actress claiming those were her own photos. She got great laughs out of doing that...

Spock yaar - Pakistani girls are beautiful unlike Indian girls :)

I just read this in Delhi a few days back and was profoundly shocked at the deceit of the girl! it's not funny. The poor guy is heartbroken. The Delhi police is trying to find her. Now I know what will happen next - some other girl will claim that she sent Ash's pic because she loved him too much and couldn't bear him to see her face, that she felt ashamed when he sent her the money, that she was taking the money to the bank to return to him when it was stolen by a scarred thug, that she will commit sooeecide if he doesn't marry her. So the sucker will marry her and live happily never after. Oh, these dilli ki larkiyan...
