Having toiled over it for a while now, I have come up with what I think would be best XI from teams of today. I have to admit though that I havent watched alot of cricket lately but rather read it. So here it goes:
- Stephen Fleming (c)
- Virender Shewag
- Brain Lara
- Sachin Tendulkar
- Inzamam-Ul-Haq
- Rahul Dravid
- Adam Gilchrist (w)
- Shaun Pollock
- Shane Warne
10)Shoaib Akthar
11)Glenn McGrath
Jayasuria and Hayden didnt make it for the opening becasue I think Fleming is by far the worlds best captain and Shewag I have feeling is more feared than jayasuria and Hayden. Let me know what you guys think.
i would've sehwag he is joke ain't a test player i would rather have Smith the south african captain then sehwag hmmmmm the rest kind of ok :D
1) Michael Vaughan
2) Mathew Hayden
3) Jac Kallis
4) Sachin Tendulkar
5) Ricky Ponting (C)
6) Rahul Dravid
7) Adam Gilchrist (w)
8) Jayson Gillapsie
9) Shane Warne
10)Shoaib Akthar
11)Stephen Harmison
Inzi does not deserve to be in team because his record is not impressive outside pakistan. i will chose ponting over inzi any given day.
Lara is pretty old and he has not performed that well lately. Kallis is much better choice than him.
Instead of Fleming, i will chose Michael Vaughan. With 13 centuries in 50 test matches, he has shown his worth.
Hammirson is a great prospect and i chose him over mcgrath.
this would be the team i would pick for great xi in recent times
1)Mathew Hayden
2)Stephen Fleming(c)
3)Brian Lara
4)Sachin Tendulkar
5)Rahul Dravid(vc)
6)Inzimam-ul-Haq
7)Adam Gilchrist(w)
8)Shoaib Akhtar
9)Glen Mcgrath
10)Murlitharan
11)Jason Gillespie
i picked muriltharan over shane warne because he has still longer to go and he is around his prime. also mathew hayden is one of the most solid openers i have seen. fleming as nsudasi said is by the bes t captain in the world
