Agree! My friends who've run a marathon used these through the training and the race. They're very very comfortable.
However if you're joining a cardio class at the gym, running shoes may not work. I use tennis shoes whenever there's going to be a lot of different foot movements. My feet hurt if I use running shoes there.
Re: Best workout shoes...
Asics for sure!
Re: Best workout shoes...
What about walking shoes , any recommendations ?

Re: Best workout shoes…
Both I and begum are using Asics for quite sometime now and are VERY satisfied.
As Nomi said, ideally you should get different shoes for training, running, walking etc but you can start with getting only running shoes for now.
Regular price run b/w $80-$150. We normally buy sports shoes for whole family during back-to-school sale when SportCheck has Buy-One-Get-One-50% offer.
This is what she currently have

Thanks folks. Those look pretty cool. Should check them out.
Re: Best workout shoes...
people mostly fall into three kinds based on how their feet land when they run - neutral, over-pronators, and supinators. all running shoe manufacturers make shoes for all three kinds of people.
if you aren't going to be running much - say less than 10 mins at a time, you should just get a comfy pair of neutral shoes. like the asics cumulus or nimbus, or the nike air pegasus. personally i'd recommend something minimalistic like the nike free. your feet are pretty good at doing their job, big clunky shoes make the tiny stabilizing muscles of your feet lazy.
if you are going to be running more than 10 mins, you'll have to get your gait analyzed for what shoes to get. this just means someone who knows what he/she's doing should watch you feet as you walk or run at the store. don't just go and buy any asics shoe as people are suggesting.
try on multiple brands for your feet type. most running stores will give you 100% store credit if you bring the shoes back in a week. and unless you have super-broken feet, there really is no reason to shell out more than $90 for a pair. especially online.
