I can make a free money order, thanks to BankOne, but when I will send my $50 money order to my nephew, the bank will cut $10-15 for the fees … which is a lot, no?
This particular nephew is in Pakistan. But I would like to know how I send Eidi easily to Europe as well.
Europe could be done with Paypal if both are registered. Fees are reasonable. Sending money to Pakistan is a ma'arka without losing too much on the exchange rate or fees.. so if anyone has ideas.. i'd be interested in hearing them too..
i am not sure if its available through a bank..but i think from walmart you can send money via moneygram..walmart will also give u a phone number and name of the bank in pakistan..so u can give ur relative that info and they will jus go get the money
its basically just like western union but much cheaper compare to it
Thanks Sheraz. But I was asking to know about a faster and cheaper way to transfer money from Pakistan to US? I think moneygram is for the other way around...

Find someone who has a foreign exchange bank account in Pakistan and send it thru there. Works both ways, to and from Pakistan.
it's not straightforward with that either.. most banks route it through their head offices if they have one and it's usually in New York.... so your bank gives you some complicated forms to fill out in Pakistan.. and they usually employ SWIFT to transfer which requires you to fill out routing codes and SWIFT codes etc etc..
I checked out Walmart and it looked promising.. about $12 fee to send under $1000 (always send less than a $1000 at a time or Mullah Ashcroft will switch on his monitor) and the exchange rate yesterday was Rs. 56.7 to a dollar..
