I’m looking for ways to make chapatti without using the rolling pin to make it round. Is there a method of using a tortilla maker or such other appliance to make it? I can’t do the rolling pin method!
My mom just slaps it around on her hands. And it alwayd turns out oerfectly round and gorgeous.
I'm sure u coukd buy a larger tortilla press and it would work perfectly. Much faster too.

Tortilla press...you just make the pera, put it on the round, press down, and you have the flattened roti ready for the tawa. There are few different types of presses, so you may have some trial and error before you find one that works

Recommend one, I've been looking for a while with no avail.
I did see a roti maker in an Indian store but the size was to small. I wish I've picked it up.

Tools should not be used. Takes away from the integrity of the process.

I don't get this "tools take away integrity of food" ideology. Do you guys still pick gandum straight from the farm and grind it in the chakki to obtain atta? I believe that this is the original process by which women used to make roti and some still do in small towns in Pak/India.

I think the heavier, cast iron ones work the best…I don’t know for sure as I don’t fool with making roti

Don't buy the roti maker. It is a waste of money. Go with the tortilla press. If you know how to make the dough ( not that dough!) you are 3/4 of the way there.

The dough should be softer than usual for making it with hands (slapping method)
