simple start talking to your mom and sisters..even they make fun of u ..dont give up …then go to your grand ma…

that’s a really good question Muni..i am sure around your neighbourhood or in your relatives you can find some urdu speaking people…the key is don’t feel shy..just talk even if its wrong..
the best way is talk to people who are younger than you, coz they aren’t that perfect in speaking.
To start with it must be hard..instead of speaking complete urdu..try mixing english and urdu..then you can move on to practise intervals of 5 or 10 minutes.
In our home, we have a rule that no one will speak english..so i can difference among my cousin and my brother..my brother who is 11 speaks really good urdu.
Reading romanized urdu is not an easy task..i used to keyboard total english until one year back..i had a hard time reading roman urdu..i would spend 10 minutes to read a single paragraph..and i remember it was hard..but i didn’t gave up.
And when i started posting on gupshup, i had no problems in writing in roman or reading..sometimes reading roman is hard coz everyone uses a different dialect For eg. someone would write doll gurhia and someone else would write gudhya..it all comes with time and practise..
You know what else i can suggest you is to use search on gupshup and try to find some old 98 threads..i do remember some very good posts from old guppies..if i am not mistaken you can find some experiences of Sabah and Asif in those threads too..
