I have been to that area many times. What I saw:
- Traffic congestion like crazy.
- Tiny horribly built houses. Reminded me of poorly constructed houses in Karachi. Everything is a luxury, including having a proper kitchen, a proper bathroom, and a parking garage.
- Harsh winters. Snow only looks fun for a few days.
- Harvard and MIT may be nice, but for the average person who is not going there, it doesn't matter. Maybe if one is interested in the arts and cultural activities going on there. But that whole Cambridge area is super congested.
- Have to pay to park on your own street if you live in the busy areas.
- Housing costs a lot of money. Most of your salary will just be gone in that.
I also can't imagine living in Cali. Maybe they get paid more, but not that much more that a person can afford to purchase a proper house.
you are more thatn right,, but who is asking you to live in Boston and Cambridge... All other cities are reasonable in rent and other facilities.
I also like San Diego... it was very beautiful and nice. but I guess, it was damn expensive.
