Ajju, clear a one more thing for me. Suppose there are three bowlers (1) slow (2) medium and (3) fast bowler. When they do bowling, theirs balls moves from one direction to another direction when the ball hit/touch the pitch. What it will be? Swing of spin?
I guess spinner’s delivery is slow whereas fast bowler’s delivery faster but both ‘spins’ when hits the ground. I don’t find a very big difference in it.
Imagine a bowling ball vs. a spinning top. The object of a fast bowlers’s bowling grip and delivery is to deliver the ball straight on, and the swing, seam will affect how it finally arrives to the batsman or on his bat. Where as the object of a spin bowler is to grip the ball in such a way so as to spin the ball with varying degrees of spin and hence have the ball bounce and “turn” off of the surface as it arrives to the batsman or bat.
So “turn” only happens with Spin. Such as the video you posted for Shane Warne. When you look as Waqar or Wasim there is no “turn” or spin, its only swing/seam action.
Take a look:
**
Spin > grip across the seam to make the ball turn or spin**
**Swing / Seam bowling as part of Fast bowling:
**
Grip is over the seam parallel to it slightly cocked at an angle when swing is desired.
Anutumul has posted good pics and explanation, the “spin” you see on fast bowler’s bowl is not for the changing direction of ball upon hitting the pitch. Ball when released from fast bowler’s hand spins towards the bowler i.e. if done very slowly ball should come back (or tend to) toward bowler when it hits pitch, while the ball released from spinner spins forward + left or right so when it hits the pitch it takes the direction of spin. I hope I am not confusing you too much
