Best places to shop in Lahore

The last time I was in Pakistan (2009) I had very little time to buy formal dresses for myself. We went to fortress, anarkali etc and I didn’t like anything in any of the stores we visited. I was quite disappointed because it shouldn’t be too hard to find decent dresses (for a decent price) in Lahore but perhaps I just didn’t know where to look. I need to buy some formal dresses again some time soon so thought I’d ask the GS experts where the best stores in Lahore are. There are some similar threads already but they’re a bit outdated. So help, please.

Ok, lets see. You should do ur shopping around and in Liberty mainly. MM Alam road is a good place to start with. Fashion Pakistan Lounge , Nida Azwer, Threads &Motifs, L'taliear, are few shops/boutiques to check. Then on liberty main boulevard, pfdc mall one and khaadi khaas . Chienayer (sp) by bareeze .

Liberty market is great - the prices are mid range. Their embroidery market is beautiful, just buy plain jamawar/chiffon/silk (from cheaper places) and have tailor made outfits will work out cheaper. Liberty also have great shops for lace/shoes/bags to match your outfits.

MM Alam road can be very expensive - buying one or two pieces is fine - but for bulk i personally wouldn't.

Orega market - great for loose fabric (chiffons etc) - then expertly sewn by pak tailors who breathe life into these fabrics

Ichra/Moon Market - mediocre but can get some good buys. Very cheap. Worth a look.

Re: Best places to shop in Lahore

This is based on my past experiences with shopping in Pak, though I haven't been recently. Fortress clothes I have never like either so can't comment, and similarly i have never liked anarkali, I always think of it as more a tourist place. But recently my sis in law bought some gorgeous anarkalis from anarkali bazar at very reasonable prices (under 10k) so maybe things have changed now? Good luck!
