Which city in your opinion is the best place to bring up a family? Keeping in mind work-life balance, standard of living, weather, safety, Islamic environment?
Re: Best place to live
Chitown!!!
Re: Best place to live
Karachi, duh.
Re: Best place to live
Lucknow, Canada :)
Re: Best place to live
I have lived in 5 countries in 4 continents including in chronological order:
Paris 10 Years
Los Angeles 8 years
New York city 2 Years
Dubai 4 years
Bahrain 2 years
Islamabad 4 Years
My pick out of the lot would be Dubai....first it is the most advanced of the countries i have lived in and also visited and financially it was where the most rewarding - more than America. Bahrain was basically a smaller version of Dubai although 10 years behind it in terms of infrasctucture. Next fav would be Islamabad where I am based at right now. Worst place to bring up a family AMerica without a doubt. Most of you in north America are in various stages of westernization and you dont even realize it...most of the muslim immigrants to North and south america have had their heritage wiped out within 3 generations there...
Re: Best place to live
Toronto, Canada. By far, the best city ever. There is huge diversity here, lots of different cultures, food from different places around the world, some of world's biggest hospitals and research, lots of touristic spots, friendly people, and everyone wanting to learn more about other people's culture and religion.

What is it about the hawa paani there that makes you so negative? I feel like so many people there sings only one tune:
Amreekaaa...ya haraaam...thees ees the kuffaaaar caantry.
Hello? Have you seen PFDC runways at all for the past few years?
Muslims do not only reside in Pakistan. They are all over the world. There are American Muslims that have no connection with Pakistan...any suggestions for them? Or are they automatically destined for Jahannum? Urdu is not the language of the Qur'an and no one gets bonus points in Jannat for knowing it. There is no mention of shalwar kameez in Ahadees (not as far as I know). So if someone here knows their deen but knows nothing about their cultural heritage...their chances of pleasing Allah swt are the same (probably better) than yours. :)
Re: Best place to live
ohhhh Reha, you and your voice of reason.
After living in both canada and the us, chicago and toronto are definitely my top pics. both have their strong muslim communities and city charms. one holds my heart over the other since home always stays home no matter where you go.

what are you talking about? some of the strongest pakistanis i know are here living in north america. i have family even living there and studying and i have heard some of the craziest stories about the youth over there, nothing like i have ever heard anyone doing over here. people are so disconnected from religion and culture in pakistan its disturbing. that goes for both sides of the bar. the country has no balance and no humanity left. no peace of mind or stability over there, and america is the worst place to raise a family? thats funny.
Re: Best place to live
Sydney, Australia is not bad.
Re: Best place to live
I am living in Singapore from Past 23 years, and I love this place.
It is small tiny City state, nice and well managed, weather is slightly worm and humidity level is but high, but extremely safe almost crime free environment.
Employment rate is more 95%, for Islamic point of view it is best non muslim country for us, here you have public Holidys on Eids, almost meat shops only sale Halal mutton and Beaf, almost all major fast food chains only offers Halal meals. There more then 70 mosques on top of that in many major office building you could find small prayer place reserved for Muslims.
So my vote is obvious MAJULAH SINGAPORA
Re: Best place to live
no one mentioned madina or makkah y

Nice to read that about Dubai. I have always wanted to visit! Near Pakistan, Pakistani stores and yet safe and modern in a sense.
Hulahoop Queen- ive been to Toronto a couple of times and I am amazed at the Pakistani restaurants available, and same for the Muslim environment. I believe Toronto is safe too.
My family lives in the US and i think it is the utmost amazing place- freedom and even the Muslim community - i cant wait for when I will be able to attend a Bayyinah course in Texas :D I agree that some of the best Muslims are out of Pakistan. My cousins live in the 'westernized' USA but they pray all their namazes, recite the Quran every day and are better in the deen than many Pakistanis from Pakistan that ive met.

I live in the US but I agree with you!!! If I could live anywhere I would live in toronto, not because my sis lives there but because the quality of life is so much better. People are so much nicer. The muslim community is AMAZING! Food is amazingggg!
Ahhhh I wish I could just move there :(
Re: Best place to live
When I was single, I liked Irvine, CA the most because my priorities were different
Now that I have a family (2 little kids), I believe Toronto is the best. Good education, strong community presence, good job opportunities, Halal food availability (yes its a big factor). Muslim/Pakistani families here are much more closely bounded (mostly positively) and I think kids have right balance of peer pressure to do right.
Re: Best place to live
I love Toronto but I think it offers very limited opportunities for the younger Muslim generation. Competition is fierce and getting into professional schools is extremely hard. Other than that, it does offer a great standard of life. Healthcare is great if you're in the city. Suburban hospitals are not always that great. Someone once said, if you want to make it big, go to the US but if you want a great life as a middle class citizen, opt for Canada.
Re: Best place to live
Melbourne,Australia. Will find many Muslims, the quality of life is very good , the cost of living is affordable and will find many halal outlets.
Re: Best place to live

Re: Best place to live
