Inshallah me hubby and kids will be going to Dubai in March and wanted to know the best place to buy Gold in Dubai. Our house was burgled a few years ago and I lost most of my gold and have been saving to buy some bangles for a while and inshallah will have a chance to when im in Dubai. Have’nt been on holiday for over 3 and half years so really looking forward to it.
Please could you suggest area to travel to, to buy gold, prehaps shops. Im not looking for designer pieces just simple disigns at good prices. I’m happy to travel, as will be there inshallah for a few days.
Also I’ll be traveling with a 3 and a 4 year old so could anyone please suggest some good places to go with the kids. Jazzak-Allah everyone for your help. Big Hugz. xx
I have visited Dubai a few times. I found it incredibly expensive. The gold designs were in 18k - 21k. My mum was with me and she advised me against it. Instead I bought gold tablets. Just to give you an idea, I saw some really pretty bangles in the gold souk and asked how much they were, everything is priced in American dollars, he said $10,000!!!!
I was shocked, the weight was 50 grams no stones just gold. In the same trip I went to England for a wedding. I purchased 6 bangles at the weight of 70grams for 3600 pounds. The design was stunning and 22k gold. I don't know if that is expensive for Pakistan standards or not. But I know it was alot cheaper than Dubai!
Oh sorry forgot, they'll love Atlantis, there is the yellow boat tours and maybe sega world. All the beaches are great especially Jumeriah beach - hope that helps!

yes gold souk and there is a gold souk on the lower floor of dubai mall. you have to barter with them. first you should know the
price of gold and then multiply by the grams. then you shd ask them how much they are charging for making. that is where they are going to barter with you. you cant bring the price of gold down but u can reduce the making price. dubai is cheaper as labour is cheaper, there is no vat. In uk there is higher labour costs and u have to pay vAT.. I live in the Uk and i never buy from here, its either PK or Dubai. there is so much competition that they will try to give you the best price. as for the kids there is lots to do in dubai mall as well, there is wild wadi and water park in atlantis hotel. lots of hotels also have kids clubs.. I would go to souk in the morning as u have young kids and it will be less busy. take your time and dont let them pressure you. inshallah u will come back with what u want.
You probably don't want to be dragging a 3 and 4 year old through ANY souq! The gold souq is narrow, tiny shops, nowhere to sit, and packed with busloads of tourists. Everyone gave you advice on reducing the making charge, but the gold selection is overwhelming. Dubai Mall would be the better option for gold, as gold shops have re-opened in recent years, and your kids can play in Kidzania while you shop. Another option are some gold shops in Meena Bazaar. The souqs are open from about 10-1, and 4-10.
Jazak Allah everyone for your suggestions and help. I'm in the uk and because of the VAT it becomes very expensive(20%) but it is reasonable if you come from outside the uk because you can get VAT exemptions. The reason I wise to buy in Dubai is because I have heard of the variety and NO VAT!!
