I’ve heard that you should take coffee beans (I think) to sniff between smelling colognes so that your nose gets overpowered by a different smell before you try a new cologne.
Taking some samples home would be the best idea. Wear it and do some work around the house or a light work out so you start sweating a bit. Then ask someone how it smells on you.
I like Burberry Touch but it fades pretty quickly.
