Hum- They show best 'quality' draama

Aaj- good comedy, political (if permitted) satire show

News, views and confused, 4 man show, Begum nawazish ali (used to be ) and news with Talat (banned)

there should be quality programming on Pakistani channels, or none of the kind that is fed to the viewers wth themes that are derogatory and worst use of idle time.

the questioin is, do we have an apetite for that sort of stuff as a nation? is there enough demand? could it be sustained. based on what I have seen interms of attitudes .. i dont think there is enough demand. I do believe that niche programs that range from exploring subcontinental archeology to analysis of folklore to book reviews and talks etc would have some interest. I seriously dont know if there will be enough demand to have a channel dedicated to it.

Now from an entertainment perspective though, it appears that our TV shows are falling in the same funk that the film industry did..

I honestly dont miss desi tv, i add it when my folks are here and get rid of it when they leave, news are crap, shows are horrid, why bother.

My folks visiting was exactly why I added ARY back in 2004, but never did cancel it. Plus on the weekends there are some good music shows, like Rock on, which I got hooked on. Plus I get some Pakistani news that I won't get anywhere else. Hence its still there.

if it was free i would not mind especially around ramadan or 8/14 and stuff, other than that i just dont find it interesting.
heck i am annoyed at why I am forced to pay for channels in my lineup I never watch and have no interst in ranging from the 700 club ot univision to all those shop at home channels, its like yeah I have 100 channels but I onlywatch like 10 of those..

plus the cableindustry lobby killed the measure toi bring it to a pay/channel pricing.

I'm not an old school person by any stretch of imagination but if there is one Pakistani channel that I watch even on a semi-regular basis, it is PTV. Every other channel (atleast the ones available here in North America) is of extremely poor quality. PTV, though seemingly ghetto, atleast plays some of its quality programming from days gone by. Other channels have no quality programming to speak of. Not to mention the fact that GEO and the likes make FOX News actually seem fair and balanced. Their bias for any anti-government movement is despicable.

stop it with your PTV 2 ki ratt, its by far the most shareef tv channel ever aired.

Last time i watched ptv2, which was a good decade ago, they were stuck on AIOU programs and documentaries on Japanese demonstrating innovative agricultural techniques in Pakistan.

Have they moved on…since then?

Fraudia bhai has excellent points. and it wont hurt to see what he has said, in terms of originality of the programs.
null at times, in many programs that dont even suit our identity and group as decent people with moral values or even good taste.
