lol yea…most of these tiny taxi hang out places start to suck when they expand. 
No ive nvr been to that afghan restaurant. Im usually not in the columbia area.

pp i have not been to the new sabri on devon, but the last one althoyugh consistent did not look that great, sabri in the burbs is a nice place, i forgot about that one, and i do mean the real sabri not that shahi nihari crapolla place which used to be sabri at one time

Usmania in chicago is good.
Tandoori times, BBQ tonite, Lahore tikka house, Chandni Chouk (gerrard), Hot & Sour (Pakistani chinese) are my favorites in Toronto.

In chicago I liked khan kabob house and sabri. Didn't like Usmania at all.
In Toronto, Tandoori times was great. They make the food really hot and fresh and it tastes awesome. This might be the best food I've eaten in America. Gerard street is wayy overrated.
In DC area, Ravid kabob serves the best karhai and tikkas. I also like Maiwand in columbia where I go almost every week because I live very close by.

Ravi Kabab and Kabob Palace are ace.
I would strongly advice against Food Factory (the one in College Park, MD). It’s one of the dirtiest restaurants I’ve ever been to and they’ve been closed down in the past because they regulated health violations and their food makes you sick.
Al Markaz is in Carrollton, Haveli is in Irving.
For non-traditional-desi foods Masala Wok rocks :k: Masala Wok is hybrid of Chinese and Desi foods, curry is NOT made using tomato+onion+garlic+ginger (how it is made is skipping me right now, will come back later).
Masala Wok is present in Austin, Richardson, Irving, and Plano (Texas).
Al Markaz is in Carrollton, Haveli is in Irving.

From Kevyan’s list, I think Kebabeesh is not a pakistani restaurant. But still, a good effort to compile the list, may be you need to hit a refresh periodically.
I’ll go for Roti boti and Kabab King (for some dishes) in Jackson Hieghts.

JK Kabab House on Devon and Rockford (across the old parking lot). It's been there for the past decade and serves one of the best grilled menu ever. Their food is not greasy. They also serve complimentary chicken corn soup. Really clean set up.
The problem with desi restaurants is that they all start out great but as soon as the chef leaves so does the quality & taste of food. I remember there was this awesome joint in Lombard (Chicago) called Tandoor Grill which had unbelievable food the first three months but then the chef left and the restaurant took a noise dive.
Bundu Khan in Houston is all grill tikka and paratha and really good quality.
Zam Zam (formerly Ujala) on Devon has the best halwa poori, even better than tahoora. I find Tahoora's halwa and chole to be too Indianized with achaar and raita. ZamZam has the authentic Pakistani style plain poori, chole and halwa minus the pista and nuts.
Mixed Chaat, Dahi Wada Chaat and Samosa Burgers are best at Royal Sweets in Richardson TX.
