After reading another thread Omar Kureishi’s name refreshed in the memory. We always talk about commentator from other countries, lets see who most people think are/were best Pakistan commentator. Omar Kureishi was good in his time I dont know if he does it anymore or not. Then we had Chisty Mujahid, Tasleem Aarif, Hasan Jalil.. I dont even remember all of them.
Now we have Amir Shoial, Rameez Raja who both started as experts but taken over as regualr commentators. Khan Sahab also pop in once in a blue moon to give his expert opinions.
Who do you think has been Pakistan best and most respectable commentar. Somone who was not bias in his opinions and appreciated good cricket.
Does anyone remember that Muneer Hussain dude? Man, was he hilarious or what. "Imran Khan apnay nishaan pe ghoomay.. dorna shuru kiya .. umpire ke paass say guzray... faza mein uchlay or gaind phainkee ....... or nazreen chowka" Seriously, he couldnt tell the difference between radio and TV commentary.
I love the Pakistani hockey commentators!!! 'Aur yeh umpire ka ishara, Planty corner'!!! There influence is so strong that I have seen guppies living in the US type 'plenty corner'!!!
Imran Khan is the best, his 93 Windies vs Pakistan commentry being exceptionally good.
I loved it when we turned on the radio when Pakistan won the 92 world cup, the commentators were overwhelmed with joy!!!

Yes. Was? Or is?
kaka, I like Aamir Sohail. I agree he talks nonsense a lot of the time, but he's not afraid to mince words and is always ready with his loud-mouth opinions. Fine entertainment. I always look forward to his stints as commentator.

He shouldnt be a commentator, as much as I like him. He got really boiled up when Pakistan was about to loose against India in the world cup, he was almost about to beat up the other commentator!

i think Aamir Sohail is the worst. The guy has no integrity, whatsoever. The way he was praising Junaid Zia even after he allowed a four with his footwork on the boundary, and 3 runs with his poor fielding is amazing.
If you didnt catch it, after Junaid let the ball go to the bounday, Aamir exclaimed 100% commitment shown by the youngster. And when the bangladeshi's scored 3 runs, "Brilliant fielding by Junaid. He saved the team 1 run." Bravo! Put me on the team Mr.Sohail, and I'll show 100% commitment. But even if my 100% commitment doesnt lead anywhere, then something must give. What about Saeed bin Nasir. He showed 1105 commitment by flying in from abroad, but he was overlooked. Its your commitment to the game that is questionable. Same goes for Rameez. He praised Junaid even when he did poorly on the field. Its a f@@k fest out there with our commentators, i tell you.
When the bangladeshi team was bowling, and the ball started reverse swinging, "This will make the pakistani bowlers very happy" Quite understandable, but what about the bangladeshi's? Wouldn't it make them happy who were bowling then and there, AND reverse swining? Why not present their side of the view, as well? Why couldnt he have just said " this will make the bowlers happy" I mean its not like Pakistan is the only side that can produce reverse swing.
Sikandar Bakht shares the worst honors with him. Rameez is not so behind either.
My favorites from Pakistan would have to be Asif Iqbal, and Or Qureshi.

I saw it on the highlights and have to say you picked a pretty bad example if you wanted to knock Sohail's commentary. Junaid may not be much of a bowler, but his fielding was outstanding. Sprinting along the boundary, sliding with his leg outstretched trying to prevent the ball reaching the line. I wish all of our players would show that type of Aussie-style committment in the field.
Other than that, yes Sohal can talk bakwaas at times but I enjoy his blunt opinions, even if they are wrong at times.
I think Rameez is a good commentator. Omar Kureishi was good too. Apart from that I dont really think we have any outstanding commentators. The problem is most of them always get stuck on one specific topic. Asiq Iqbal can be commentating in any part of thr world but he brings up Sharjah and how Sharjah glamorised cricket. Amir keeps on praising the team he picked. Hasan Jalil whatever chance he gets keep trying to take the credit for introducing cricket to U.S by organizing a couple of double wicket tournaments. Why cant these people just stick to the match, I mean every time they have to bring up something about these topics.
^^ I dont think that Aamir Sohail praises his team out of the way. You tell me, if Dean jones is praising pakistani team, its nice but when Aamir does that, he is praising the team HE slected?? You have to look at the broader role he is playing while commentating. And apart from praising he criticizes his players too, and that too 'the players he selected'. For example he was very critical of Salman Butt in third test and Umer Gul when he was giving away a lot of extras!! You should have noticed that too, if you noticed the praising stuff...
