i like it how in CB Series they have best of 3 Final. so the best team will win. instead of getting lucky in one Game. I love it like how they have it NBA and MLB playoffs they have best of Series

Do you think They should have the same thing in world cup final?

I like that idea too. But I dont know if ICC wil consider it even.

I've said this before!
All QFs, SFs and Final should be Bo3 in the WC.

That would be over kill to have QFs, SF's in best of three format - Unless you are an organizations whose income depends on revenue generated by TV and selling commericals for those TV channels.

Only and Only WC final deserves to be played under a best of three format.

The reason why BO3 is better is because it guarantees a second chance to a team if they lose one. It makes the win and the moving to the next round more legitimate. I'm sure we all agree to this.

So then why add this legitimacy to the finals only? and let the QFs and the SFs run the usual way where 1 good or bad day from a team can be decisive to their or their opponent's WC campaign. QFs and SFs are just as important and crucial. How awesome would a India vs Pak BO3 Semi Final have been this year?

We discussed this here during the WC. I took a closer look at scheduling and it was only going to add around a week - assuming additional changes to the previous rounds to make space for this. Given that the WC happens once in 4 years, I see no problem with another week or even 10 days.

^^ Still think it would be an overkill if we have ALL QFs,SF's that can possibly total to (4QFs*3+2SF's*3)=18 more games to the WC.

I mean you have to put a cap on it, if all QFs and SFs are BO3 than whats the guareentee that someone will not come out advocating BO5 QF's and SFs?

We only need WC final as BO3 and I highly doubt if that is going to happen, either.

It's not 18 more games, it's 12 more games. 12 potential more games, some rounds will wrap up at 2-0. To make up a little, we can get rid of some games in the previous rounds which are just too redundant. Also the warm up games.

I dont think its a slippery slope either, b03 takes care of the bad day or the good day, bo5 or bo7 do not have enough value add.

But you are right, its not happening anytime soon. Even outside the WC, Aus is the only country doing it.

Even a best of three final does not always guarantee that the better team will win the tournament

I mean look at the 2 finals so far

Aus won a HARD-FOUGHT 1st game
Sri Lanka THRASHED Aus in the 2nd Final

**So despite the 1-1 scoreline in the finals, Sri Lanka the better team so far

**Not only that it is 4-2 to SLA (vs Aus) in the curent CB series

The 3rd Final effectively becomes 'the lucky winner takes all' game

So unless Aus thrash SLA in the 3rd final, they won't be worthy winners of CBS IMO. A narrow win and one would have to conclude that SLA were desperately unlucky

There is no end then Asif! You can do Bo5 bo7 etc etc to make it more and more and more fair.

I just feel that the Bo3 is a good balance between added fairness and not prolonging the series soooo much.
