Re: Best Household Gift

:ahaa: Voucher for 2-4 hours house cleaning?

Re: Best Household Gift

i m just curious and have a question for cushions.. what if they dont match with their decor?

I would most probably give them a gift certificate to their favorite home goods store? or candle holders? or something to use in kitchen so even if they dun like, they dun have to display it :D

I personally love soup bowls in gift.. I think they are sooo pretty and you can never have enough of them!!

Re: Best Household Gift

A set of glasses, bowls, mugs, plates, sauce platters, condiment/spice jars, etc You can pick one and buy it in a set.

Picture frames, pillows/throws, decoration pieces (vases, candle holders etc).

If you know that certain friend/relative likes to bake....you can get them baking supplies (tin molds, etc).

Re: Best Household Gift

^This (if you're okay with it).

It gives the recipient more freedom and they don't have to return it and get something they like better....or pass it on to someone else.

Re: Best Household Gift

I got a tefal pressure cooker as a wedding gift from someone and it is still my favoirite gift! Very well used and something I didn't buy for muself :D

Re: Best Household Gift

my frnd got married few years ago and i gifted her a microwave oven for her new home sweet home :)

Re: Best Household Gift

a keenly look ,what she is looking these days for her home:faizy:

Re: Best Household Gift

ok ok , i will tell you guys the truth .. I am looking to buy some stuff for my mother , my mumami and my mother in law  … and all three are in different countries , so i dont really wanna take the risk of vouchers

GTG , I gifted the cushion set as per their living room scheme … plus taking neutral colors always helps :@:

When taking stuff international … heavy things like bartan and cookers can be hard to manage weight wise … hence am looking for ideas that might be travel friendly too :hmmm:

I remember , once I took a very expensive vase and long stemmed flowers for someone in Pakistan … they didnt look as excited to see the vase as I would have imagined that they would … now i know why that happened .. coz vases arent really as expensive in that country and they arent seen as ideal gift stuff either

Re: Best Household Gift

How about some nice photo frames... but nowadays u get most of the things in Pakistan. So can't really think of something not available in Pakistan.

Re: Best Household Gift

How about a complete dinner set or something in electronics :hmmm:
items include, juicers, coffe makers mmm toasters OR
if they like to decorate their home how about decorative rugs, mmm a set of sheets, decorative pillows .. these r the things i could think of … phheeww

Re: Best Household Gift

plus scented candles ( my love  ) and diffusers … bush :@:

Re: Best Household Gift

If you are planning to take things to Pakistan, then stick to personal stuff, as in hand bag, sweaters, jewelry etc... they have everything there in terms of decorative items and much less expensive than here... what I have done in the past is, took some photoalbums and photoframes from here and then gifted those before leaving Pakistan with the pics of that recent visit... my mumani and sister LOVED it!!!

oh and last year, we sent a photo album to my mom with our pics of almost a year.. she treasures it very much because she can show that to the visitors and look at the pics whenever she feels like it.. later we had to make one for my MIL as well because she liked it so much too so from now on, we just make copies for both!

Don't bother taking electronics.. especially if there is a voltage difference (as it is in the USA) and also because people in Pakistan want everything Made in Japan and not China when it comes to electronics!!

Decorative items, bed sheets etc... they are much more better in quality and price in Pakistan than here.. you can visit Chen One in Islamabad to see that!

If anything, you can look into those jewelry storage boxes? they are pretty neat!

Re: Best Household Gift

Bedsheets/bedspreads/comforters?

Re: Best Household Gift

i dont know about your price range but birks has some excellent crystal glassware. the murano collection is great but is a bit on expensive side, i bought the same stuff from murano island for half the price

Re: Best Household Gift

gift card

Re: Best Household Gift

If you're going to pakistan: handbag, shoes ,make up ,cardigan, chocolates from abroad are the only things really appreciated,or I find the only things ladies like are clothes ,so maybe buy an outfit from there

If going to other countries see what your country has that theirs doesnt....but best bet is always latest trendy handbag and chocs...

We like candles and household stuff but I find not many ppl like to recieve them in pak

Re: Best Household Gift

What about some napkin holders...Fenwicks have some lovely ones that come packed in boxes.I bought some for my khalia saas in crystal and one in ornate style with like a grapevine which also has some matching items like cruet sets.

Other than that I just buy up most of 'St Michael'...that always goes down a treat...:)

Re: Best Household Gift

Thanks all , Charmed , the napkin holder wala idea is fabulous :@:

RV , I like the comforter wala idea too … Last year I took a few comfortors /duvets for my grandparents … and this year we are taking a few for my inlaws .. coz in pakistan , the quilts are so heavy … duvets are much more lighter in weight yet warmer then most quilts from Pakistan …
I think it will add real value .. hai na ?:hmmm:

Re: Best Household Gift

That’s a good idea.We took one for my nand some years ago,and it was two in one.You kinda seperate them, and one is a really light one.Plus, they already come so neatly packed..
