Can anyone tell me what the good chains are and what are the standard services they provide? Approximate prices also appreciated, thanks!
Re: Best Gyms in Toronto?
Permier and another big one (forgot name) are complete rip offs. Once you subscribe to them, it will be a miracle if they stop charging you (they were actually sued for that). $~40ish they charge u by the year too i think.
YMCA is good but slightly xpensive...but they give you every possible thing you need karate lessons, yoga, swimming pool, squash etc. $45-50ish / monthly
24hr ones are getting quite popular.
I think its best to join a university gym. Not sure about the rates for non-students though. Their new gym is amazing. I goto YorkU and my pass is always "on the move" with someone :)
What you need to look for is what kind of excercises will you be doing and what kind of facilities are there for that? You can also get a trial most places.
Its also helpful to go at peak hours/or times u want to go and see how busy it is. Sometime its too busy and you will not get the machines you need ... so not worth going.
Its also helpful if commute is as short as possible, so one less thing that will discourage you :)
Re: Best Gyms in Toronto?
For a moment I thought that said ‘Best Bums in Toronto?’.
I think I need a break ![]()
Re: Best Gyms in Toronto?
Like PrinceMS said... wutever you do, nevvvver go near Premier Fitness... those guys rip you off and never stop charing your credit card. I had to get my credit card cancelled and reapply for one back in the days. I was in my undergrad then and couldn't afford it anymore so I started calling the headoffice for months and when I went in to talk to someone, he had the audacity to ask why I couldn't afford to pay for the membership while being able to wear good clothes!! argggh!! that pissed me off !!! I'd have picked up a fight then and there, but alas he was too bloody darn built! :)
