What are your favorite facial moisturizers? I have oily/combination skin, and I’m thinking of switching moisturizers. I need a hydrating cream that will mix well with liquid foundation. Oh, and preferably something affordable… I can’t really spring for Chanel right now lol

I have tried almost every kind of moisturizer there is, from high end to drugstore stuff. Either it breaks me out, or it’s not enough moisture (I have combo/dry skin). However, I always end up coming back to Olay active hydrating cream. That one with the black lid and a small pink container. It’s about $5 where I live and smells heavenly! There’s a reason why almost every mom, grandmother and great-grandmother recommends this stuff 
It doesn’t break me out and it’s the perfect moisturizer under foundation.

During the spring/summer, I was using St. Ives timeless skin collagen and elastin moisturizer. It's very lightweight, non-greasy and absorbs well into the skin. It's also quite inexpensive for the amount you get. I have acne prone skin and i didn't see any relations with using this lotion and my breakouts.
I have recently switched to Aveeno's positively radiant with spf 15 because I thought I should probably try a slightly heavier lotion for the winter. Even though the lotion is heavier than the St Ives one, it doesnt feel heavy or greasy on my face and when i rub it into my skin, i feel like it changes consistency - something powdery-like. It's my third day today and so far no breakouts :)

^^which stores sell La Mer? My skin is on the dry side and if I use nivea cream on the face it doesn't work as well with the foundation.

La Mer is an extremely high end brand found at luxury department stores like Nieman Marcus, Sax Fifth Ave, and Norsdtrum

I’m on a beauty budget and I think I will definitely try it but maybe after a few months when that is all i’ll buy for the month. Forgetting about eating and paying bills…J/K…but if it’s recommended i’ll defo get a sample. $300 -990 seems a bit above my budget.

I'm on the lookout for a good face moisturizer too. I have dry skin and have tried quiet a few samples from Sephora but none that I like too much. Which is why I keep going back to Nivea, but I want something with preventative aging ingredients.
First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream is nice. It's very lightweight and works well under foundation. Not too pricey either. But I think I want something with spf so I don't have to use sunscreen separately.
I've heard L'Occitane's Divine cream is great, but that might be a bit pricey.
Just got Korres Greek yogurt sleeping facial. Used it for the past few nights and it is keeping those pesky dry patches in this godforsaken bitter cold temp at bay. So glad I got it. Njgal had once suggested khiels rose artica cream and that is hands down my fave. Although this winter is too nasty and I had to up my moisturizer.

La Mer is essentially a better looking Nivea cream, I wouldn't bother buying it.

- One thing that’s common in La Mer reviews is that its a VERY heavy/rich cream suited for super dry skin. And it also seems to clog pores/cause breakouts for many people.

Since you have oily/combination skin, do you actually need to mix a moisturizer w/ foundation for your entire face? I ask this b/c back when my skin was oily/combination, it was never dry enough for me to need a moisturizer under make-up. Now that my skin is mostly combination, even with this I dab moisturizer here and there but not the entire face.
Have you used any of the oils like Rosehip? When my skin feels dryish, I use oils like argan, avocado, emu etc. at night to moisturizer and by morning, the dryness is usually gone. But if I do have dryness (this usually happens in the winter), I dab a little bit of rose hip oil. With primer, foundation, setting power on top, I've never had an issue using this. And its super cheap lol.

Olay has a new line of gel like moisturizers that I use during the summer because of how lightweight and easy they are...cannot think of a cream more ideal for hot days.
First Aid Beauty also has some amazing oil free moisturizers that rock...affordable too.
Another one I have tried in the summer is Yes to Cucumbers.
For winter...RHO or emu oil.
If you have oily/combo skin...mix a bit of olay with your base. You're good to go.

I've tried over a million moisturizers in the past six years. I was content with Aveeno (super cheap) it gives off rich, non greasy moisture. But I only use it for the body.
As for the face, I've been using Caviar Luxe by La Prairie. It does not clog pores neither does it cause breakouts. Works wonders for my skin. I understand you're on a budget, but I'm putting it out here in case you later opt for something more expensive.
Another good, lightweight facial moisturizer I've used (still keep it in my car) is l'oreal Ideal Moisture Day Lotion. It is a 48 hour hydration with added broad spectrum sunscreens. Not at all expensive.
