Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

if i just want to tone up my arms and not make them muscular.....i would just reduce the number of times right?

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

I dont know why desi's have this concept of "spot reduction" ???

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

I don't know why Desis think only Desis have this concept of 'spot reduction'. Google that term and BAM! All sorts of people are asking about it.

Its BS but doesn't mean everyone else is immune to wishful thinking.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

how would you go about toning forearms :hmmm:

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

You have to get rid of the fat to see the tone. And build a little muscle.

I need to get back to the gym. Last year when I was going regularly I was doing 4 different arm exercises - forearm, bicep, tricep and shoulders.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

so how do u reduce the fat then? forearms are tough to tone :( they stay the same.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

Watching what you eat and lots of cardio.

I was doing forearms coz I was told I have to do the whole arm. I liked it though because it make my wrists stronger.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

Your body consists of 3 main things - fat, water, muscle.... and everything that makes you who you are organs etc... Heres the thing to see any sort of tone or muscle defintion you need to get rid of fat...and in order to do that you need to build muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you start lifting weights you'll notice your body fat go down but at the same time you might gain weight. You should start with increasing cardio. At least 5 - 6 times a week start doing the treadmill, bike etc....then start targetting muscles...yoga is great but it wont help you define your muscles....you should consider pilates for that....its great for lengthening muscles!

Hope I helped and good luck!

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

i have a 5 pound dumbbell that i do all these with i do these about 5 times each but i’m hoping there are some fun arm exercises that don’t seem like “exercise” and boring…anybody have any ideas of ones they do?

Lateral Raises

  1. Stand upright, knees slightly bent, shoulder width apart, holding dumbbells at sides.
  2. Bend elbows slightly and raise the dumbbells out to sides. Keep elbows slightly bent throughout.
  3. When arms are parallel to floor, slowly lower back and repeat.

Reverse Flies

  1. Sit on edge of bench, feet flat on the floor. Bend over so chest is almost resting on thighs.
  2. Hold dumbbells next to feet and bend arms slightly. Open arms out keeping elbows bent.
  3. When arms are parallel to floor, slowly lower dumbbells back.

Front Raises

  1. Stand upright, knees slightly bent, shoulder width apart. Palms should be towards thighs.
  2. Raise one dumbbell directly in front of you.
  3. When arm is parallel to ground lower dumbbell slowly back. Repeat with the other arm.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

These are mostly for shoulders, not for arms…

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

^^^oh darn those are the ones i usually do, well duh, that's why i'm not seeing any results, see it's not like i have that much fat on my arms it's just they need toning and they definitely don't need muscle

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

^yea same =\ it's tough to target them :(

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

5 times each with 2.2kg weights? I started off with 2.5kg dumbell for the bicep curls and doing 3 x 20. You have to feel it.

I was doing 3 sets of 15-20 depending on how much I cope with and the weights were increasing every week.

I used the equipment for shoulder press, lateral pull down behind the neck and push down for the triceps.

I only went to the gym 2-3 times a week. Did a about 40mins of cardio followed by the above plus some other exercises for the legs. 4 weeks was enough for there to be a noticeable difference. I guess it depends how much fat you need to lose.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

You can't have tone without muscle. You just don't want to develop huge muscles. So you wouldn't be doing heavy weights with less reps. You would be keeping them manageable so you can do about 3 sets of 20 but it should burn.

Yea, you can't really target where you will lose weight but you can target where you are developing muscle.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

Awww your so cute!!! Start pilates for the arms there are a bunch of videos on youtube --- iA you'll see results in no time!

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

Unless girls take steroids its nearly impossible for them to develop "huge muscles" .... you can lift as much as you want...no way in hell its goin happen...

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

Lol... probably by your standards. But most girls don't want to look muscular at all, just a little definition. Therefore, anything more than that is huge in our book.

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

well i lose [and gain] weight easily everywhere else…but the arms have always been a pain

and i love pilatesssss.

i’ll try more cardio

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

The only healthy muscular look a girl can achieve is looking like Jillian Michaels, Jessica Alba, What Brittney Spears (use to be)... nuff said!

Re: Best Exercises for Thighs and Forearms

the rest of my body is slim and toned, tummy and legs b/c i do love to workout on the treadmill but the arms tend to be neglected.the usual pull ups that are done for the arms i have always hated. i haven't checked youtube for such exercises.......
