Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Whats your favorite clarifying drugstore mask?

I say drug store because my esthetician literally said not to buy stuff from her and just get it at CVS.

I did - but I dont think its doing much.
She’s advised to use 2 -3 times a week.
I normally put it on (after washing my face) and head into the shower and wash my face as the final step in my shower.

Good deal?

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

I use a cleanser with 10% glycolic acid in it and find it better than anything else I've ever used.

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Glycolic? How does that combine with Sacilyc?

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque is my favorite. This is what I used back when I used masks.....right now I make my husband use it.

2-3 times a week seems a lot to use a mask....unless your skin is ridiculously oily. What results are you hoping to get from the mask?

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Paheli _ I thought so too. But my skin is very congested. Lots of waxing acne and oil going on there.
Decongestion is the primary concern.

I've heard so much about that mast I have to try it.

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Oh... you mean a Salicylic mask? I don't have specific recs sowwee.

You can get cleansers for acne that have both salicylic and glycolic acid as well though... combining them is not an issue as they can both be used for congested/oily skin.

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Nothing wrong with trying the mask b/c its not expensive. However, keep in mind that if you use products like that too often, then your skin might produce extra oil to compensate b/c its being stripped too much. And this defeats the entire purpose.

If you have VERY oily/congested skin, you should really look into the salicylic products from MUAC. I think you should consider starting with the 8% serum and then after using that for like 6-8 weeks…try the 15% salicylic peel.

Treat oily skin, acne, blackheads, occasional breakouts and cystic acne with our salicylic acid-based beta hydroxy serums in 3%, 5% and 8% s

Although keep in mind that the salicylic peel is for VERY oily skin. If your skin is doing relatively well with the 8% serum…then you should try the glycolic peel.

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Royal Gala was telling me something about honey as a mask.....need to ask her to post that here.....

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

I use Murad's Sacilic Acid cleanser and the exfoliating gel which is awesome combo for me (just need to be consistant with it). Need to add a two times a week mask. The peels are an awesome idea but I'm to freaked to try that at home - I get a vitamin C peel once a month professionally.

You guys are awesome!!! Such a wealth of info.

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Queen Helene's mask is awesomeness in a tube.

Also, I really really like Dr Dennis Gross's at home peels.

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

~Muniya~, have you looked into getting a facial? It will clear up most of the decongestion you have in your skin. Look up any salons in your area that offer the 'Beaut neuve faical by Guinot'

It exfoliates out the skin/removes build-up or dead skin and at the end it is finished off with a pure vitamin C mask that helps with any pigmentation diminish if any left from acne marks, I get this done every 3-4 months and It really helps keep my complexion brighter and healthy looking. I would try the facial first!! and then start a skin-care routine.

As for the honey mask I have told Muzna about, one of my good friend who is a makeup artist here in Toronto swears by it and she herself has gorgeous skin mA

Take any purest raw honey un-pasteurized and leave it on your face for 10-15 mins daily, morning or night. I know Trader joe's have a really good one........lots of good luck and let me know how it goes :)

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

Thanks a bunch Royal.
I get a facial monthly (or try to anyway).
Will try that about the honey mask.

You guys are awesome.

THANKS>

Re: Best Drugstore Clarifying Mask

I got the Q H mask yesterday.

Tried it - aside from looking like the cliched mask wearing girls on TV - I found it uncomfortable to keep on for 15 minutes. After removing it; no extreme effects but I'm going to give it a shot and finish up the tube.

will report back.
