Assalam-o-alaikum,
I am looking for a digital camera that takes good pictures and is below $300 dollars. I have narrowed my choices to Sony and Canon brands. Have heard Canon Powershot 590IS is the most selling camera but some people say Sony Cybershots are awesome too.
Re: Best Digital Camera
Sony SH0006 costs around 600 dollars and im still not satisfied with the quality, they didn't even give us extra zoom lens so we can spend extra 200 dollars on that. suckers
Re: Best Digital Camera
I have a Sony cybershot and im quite happy with it...
Wa’Alaikum’Salam
Well… my personal favorite among Point and Click’s these days is the Canon PowerShot G10, 14.7 effective mega pixels, the G10 is the closest Point and Click’s will ever get to full-on DSLR camera’s these days, its just simply an awesome camera, its easy to use, its priced very reasonably, starts at around $390 for the body, yeah I know that is way above over your budget but believe me you won’t regret spending that extra $100 or so, and if for some reason you’re not in the condition to shell out anything more then $300, then you can go for the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS, a 12.1 mega pixel Point and Click, its not what you’d call the best camera in the world but its way better then anything cybershot (Sony) or lumix (Panasonic) make, and remember its predecessor the PowerShot SD880 IS was deemed the best Digital Camera anyone can buy for under $300, these days the PowerShot SD950 IS costs roughly between $260-$350, depending on the location of purchase.
the Canon SD950 IS:
Another camera in the $300-$350 range is the Nikon Coolpix P80, a 10.1 mega pixel semi-DSLR camera, meaning this is a device that has most of the qualities of a good mid-range DSLR but with out the massive size and the extra weight, but ofcourse it does lack the usual wide range of Lenses that DSLR are blessed with, never the less the Coolpix P80 is a great camera, in general like the Canon G10, its a very good all-rounder, it might lack 2 mega pixels when compared to the SD950 IS but to be honest, unless you’re a hardcore photographer?, you won’t be able to differentiate between the results of the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS and the Nikon Coolpix P80, out of the 2, my personal choice would be the Nikon, not because of the fact that I am a Nikon fan but because it gives you a personal piece of mind, its easier to use, its built better, it doesn’t make you look like beginner with its DSLR type body :D.
the Nikon Coolpix P80:
lastly its down to your own personal needs, don’t go for Cybetshots and Lumix crap, they might look all itsy bitsy cutesy and all but honestly thats all they’re worth for, my personal top 5 favorite camera manufacturers are;
- Nikon
- Canon
- Minolta
- Olympus
- Ricoh
Good Luck and Happy Hunting. ![]()
Add another 50-100 and get this PowerShot G10
I owned a Nikon Coolpix 7.1 MP and it was horrible. Thanks for the comments. My friends complain that Sony Cybershot doesn’t take good indoor pics although it excels Canon cams in outdoor or night shots. I am not that rich and with the changing times and tough economic conditions I would be satisfied with Canon Powershot 790IS- it is cheap and produces better quality pics and I got the complete kit for $185. Very soon we might have quality HD camers- there are none now in the market
I have a sony cybershot N1 and I'm very happy with that. Price must be now $300 or less.
Re: Best Digital Camera
How's sony cybershot T700........?
… as long as its a cybershot? its worthless…
Re: Best Digital Camera
this my topic since 2001.. i was very happy actually after Canon S2, then i bought Nikon DSLR entry level D40, built my entire kit on it…
now
i’m sorta bummed out after and giving it up, havent decided what I will get.. it gave me the closest possibility to stick to my imagination and creativity but now its hitting its man-given ability to stick with me.. and can no longer run with the shots i wanna take..
Casio Exilim highspeed cameras are looking a bit promising to my “wants” and needs. lets see
Re: Best Digital Camera
I'll buying Canon SD880 soon, a lot of good reviews about it. Canon G10 is almost the same except it's more expensive. I don't like Sony since they have their own thing going on with their special batteries and storage items. And they are more expensive.
Why is that? I found cyber shot series excellent for home users. The picture quality is as good as Canon produced, and they are sleek, cute pie !
