Re: BEST CONTEMPORARY BOOKS ON ISLAM
Peace Sister
One of the best primers I have read and it really sets a Muslim in to context is to study the core most essential aspects of the Islamic belief system. It is ofcourse the 'aqeedah …
The title of the book is “The Creed of Imam At-Tahawi” Translated by Sh. Hamza Yusuf …

It is by far the best contemporary translative work because the terms are a best fit translation and the original Arabic is there to compare with.
I think by understanding the terms 'Aqal and Naqal as ‘Reason’ and ‘Tradition’ as Sh. Hamza Yusuf sets out in this book is paramount to understanding the various schools and the way interpretation is undertaken.
Furthermore the book can be read from cover to cover in less than two and half may be three hours.
