As a birthday treat for one of my friends, me and all my friends have decided to go and have our photos taken professionally. We’ve decided to go for an elegant look and wear asian clothes but we’re struggling a bit on what colours or colour combinations would look good etc. The photo studio where we’re having them taken have advised us to stay away from big bold colours and prints but thats about it…
I wondered if anyone here has had their pics taken professionally and which colours they think look good.
dont wear clothes or jewellery thats too loud. Monochromatic is usually good (same color throughout) and keep jewellery understated so your face is the center of attention.
Deep colours look good ... and it actually depends on what background the photographer will be using. Do you know already what the background will be like?
Mehnaz you can get whatever colour background you want. We were thinking red (but some of us having problems finding something red and decent to wear!) or pastels...
Sabrina, Im in UK so doubt I'd be able to help you out! sorry!
I have a fair complexion and so does one other friend of mine but the others are much darker so its important finding a scheme that would suit us all.
Don't do Pastels unless u have a nice tan complexion.. completely washes u out in the photoshoot.. especially something along the lines of baby pink. I made the grave mistake of wearing baby pink n since im on the pastier sides, the lights made me look washed out.. almost liek a ghost. I would never allow anyone to make that sort of a mistake again. Def go for deeper richer hues n go easy on the jewelry liek ppl have said above.
I agree with whoever suggested brown.. suits all.. I have seen ppl use turquois blue n it can look nice but i dont think everyone can pull it off.. but looks really nice..
COuldnt u guys use colors in the same family.. or shades of a same color diff hues of reds, browns, blues
If its indoors in a studio with controlled lighting the photographer should be able to work with any color. Unless one of you is very fair and another quite dark, then it may be hard to balance out. How about a nice neutral base for all of you like caramel or beige and pops of color in a dupatta or scarf etc to add some fun?
Ooh Sooraj that sounds nice and you've just given me an excuse to go shopping cos I don't have many neutral coloured Asianwear :) Has anyone got any professional pics they can share with us???
