Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
Ditto Old school rock ![]()
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
As I mentioned in another thread, the attack of Waqar, Wasim, Saqlain, and Mushtaq was pretty outstanding, purely because of such mind boggling variety. If I would have had the chance to watch the matches from the 70's and the 80's, I'm sure I could have come up with more combinations.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
No doubt about that .. those were the best Glory days for Pakistan bowling.. just remember 92 tour of england ![]()
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
Game, I know what you and teens of your age has missed, but believe me watching Imran in 80s specially 81-86 era was more breath-taking than today's McGrath and Bret Lee combined. He was one lethal and blistering fast bowler. Imran running on his runup and then fearsome jump before delivering resembled to hawk's dive on its victim. This was his hunger for wicket on every delivery that he inserted in Wasim later on. Wasim was one lucky guy, to be the natural fastie under the greatest fast bowler of his time, he learned a lot from his master and was one humble student before Great Khan. Waqar did the same in his three years of career under Khan. We witnessed how furious these two were throughout their careers.
I wish today's bowlers can learn from these legends. Only if they can leave their egos behind.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
yea those inswinging / outswinging yorkers that devasted the english batting lineup
and remember that tour of south africa .. the tri series westindies,pak,SA..
when pak beat SA in all 3 games those yorkers were really deadly in those games… that was right after 92 … when pak were all out for 43
.. but anyways the tourny was worth watching.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
Oh those glory days with wasim, waqar, imran, aaqib, mushtaq all gone. seems like a dream. that time is never gonna come back ![]()
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
That combo, along with McGrath/Gillispe/Warne/Lee one and the great Kaaloo Deewane lot from late 70s are the best ever, IMO.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
^ sir jee paki`z only .. not aussies n windies .. :p
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
munnay! I already commented on Paki combo in post #4. This was just a side comment :p
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
There was a time when Imran bowled with the likes of Sikander Bakht, Jalal ud din, Mudassar nazar and Iqbal Qasim..and Pakistan still gave opponents good fights and won matches. I never saw Imran complaining about supporting bowlers. Shoaib’s comments regarding Sami’s performance were below the belt. Sami is very talented...he would have been a star under Imran. If Shoaib wasn’t so self-centered he would have encouraged the guy instead.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
Ehsan's bhai's list is spot on.
But team's balance-wise 99 WC playing team was just complete from every angle. Those days both Azhar and Razzaq were in devestating bowling form to support Wasim, Shoaib and Saqlain. Add their batting skills to Moin's top batting form and this team was just right from every angle. We will not find a better team combination than that anytime sooner.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
^ In 1999 WC I really thought WC title was ours, but the final
… ahhhhhh, really big disappointment.
Re: best bowling combo pak ever produced
Well, just like the 1996 World Cup, consider it a feather in Wasim Bhai’s cap.
