*Gul Plaza Shopping Mall:
*

**Gul Plaza - More than a Gift Shopping Place I had an impression about Gul Plaza that it is an expensive place & only decoration items are sold there. But when I went there I've found that its not as expensive as I thought and also you can shop dozens of household items besides gift items.

On first & second floor you can find Household appliances, kids toys, imported Crockery (Specially Glassware) & other Decorative stuff.

On ground floor you can buy clothes, imitation jewelry

There is an air-conditioned shopping area in the basement. You can buy Jewelry, clothes and kids items there.

As it is situated in a busy, congested area of Saddar, M.A. Jinnah Road. Therefore you might get a little problem for reaching / getting out of there. But shopping is worthy.

What to buy: Gift Items,
Household Items,
Electronics,
Imported Crockery,
Toys

http://cdn1.vtourist.com/1/2261353-Tariq_Road_Largest_Shopping_Area_in_Karachi-Karachi.jpg

Tariq Road is one of Karachi’s coolest shopping areas, This Road is lined by an array of most modern shopping malls where most people like to go for garments, footwear, jewellery and household stuff. This area is a particular favorite of Pakistan ladies because of the nature of the goods available.

Great Malls stand on the both side of road. Seperate shops for Mens’ Wear, Women and Children. Great Jewellary Shops and Boutiques are located in this area.
Starts from McDonald’s (Famous American fast food restuarant) comes SNOOPY ICECREAM both on the right side. After Snoopy are some famous footwear shops like:
ENGLISH BOOT HOSE,
FIT RIGHT,
MODULA SHOES,
HUSH PUPPIES,
MOD SHOES AND BATA (2 on right side)

Traffic is one way to avoid rush. Then are some Kids Wear Shops like ZUBAIDA’S and MOTHERCARE Baby Shop. Jewellary shops continue throughout the Market. Then comes Liberty Signal where Allama Iqbal Road crosses Tariq Road.
After Liberty are some more shoe stores then start the huge Malls. Mens’ are on right side of road while Women shopping could be done on Left side Malls. Name of some shopping markets are:

DOLMEN CENTRE,
MATEEN PALAZA,
MATEEN CENTRE,
DUBAI MALL,
SAIMA CENTRE,
MADINA MALL,
RABI CENTRE,
GLAMOUR ONE,
DOLMEN MALL.

After these great shopping centres are some Optical Shops then Main Tariq Road ends and comes Bahadur Abad area on the same road. Here are some famous Departmental Stores such as WARDROBE, NEXIS, CITY CENTRE.

but visit in a hurry and you may well miss the best at Tariq road.

Urdu Bazar: Any book you need A paradise for book lovers who want to purchase cheap books. By cheap it means pirated (photcopied). Originals are also available. All subjects imaginable are avaialble. An original that is priced at USD 100 can be bought for at USD 2. Cosidering the quality is not the same.

With so much emphasis given on education in Pakistan, most students are unable to purchase original books, and have to rely on pirated copies to supplement their studies.

Because the prices of original books are so expensive, students storm to this bazar to find copies. Government has somewhat clamped down on such markets, but the business prosper as demand exceed supplies, and prices comparred to original are very low.

Simple economics...black marketers crops up!

**What to buy: **Books on any subject

**What to pay: **Negotiate
