Please mention the best application that you ever downloaded on your phone and what kind of phone you used it on.
I use blackberry curve .. and my favorite application is the gmail mobile app .. the best feature is the voice enable search

To make messenger calls while using wireless, UMTS or HSPDA connections, It appears like same as normal phone to phone call.

i used irremote on my nokia 5500
and a software called psiloc webcam which makes the phone a wireless webcam which can go as far as ur bluetooth connection goes, was quite handy :D, can use it as a normal webcam on skype, msn, yahoo etc
but my phone broke so now i have a simple phone with no OS

I have an iPhone, and i use many apps... favourites would be:
Open Table - searching for restaurants and making reservations
Urban Spoon - I use this if we can't decide where to eat. It uses GPS or WiFi to find you and gives you random restaurant recommendations when you shake your iPhone. :)
Cleartune Chromatic Tuner - used this when i couldn't find my guitar's electric tuner.. this app works perfectly.

Telephone: iPhone 3G (jailbroken+unlocked)
Best app so far has been GV Mobile. The feature i liked the best is being able to send SMS/Text Msgs all over the world, free of charge. I dont think any US carrier offers free international SMSes.
Other apps worth mentioning: AroundMe. This app uses your geolocation and finds the nearest Banks/Bars/Retail Stores/Hospital/Gas Station/Theatres etc etc and then will provide you with complete address as well as the fone number as well as directions on the map. Really cool app esp when you are travelling.
iQuran: complete Quran in arabic with audio recitation along with translation in english.

Apps on my WinMo6 which have become very necessary:
- TomTom GPS software: I can't get lost now :)
- vxUtilities: All the networking utilities, including mobile whois and ping scan
- MS Office Mobile: All the Office apps
- eWallet: to store all kinds of passwords (128 bit encrypted)
- Lexionary: Pocket dictionary, comes in really handy while reading my ebooks on my smart-phone
- Agile Messenger: Connects to MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ etc etc
- Skype mobile: 'nuff said
- Games: Virtual Pool, sudoku and solitaire
There are other apps that I have on my laptop that can use my smart-phone:
- Jeyo Mobile Companion: Managing contacts on the phone; SMS management and backup, checking mobile settings from the PC etc.
- Internet connection sharing: (this should've been in the category uptop, but oh well) Helps me connect wherever I am
There are others but I'm too lazy to go get my phone to check.
