Your argument is flawed too. I admit AV is not 100% and at times it will fail. Just like your solution.

ZoneAlarm like other soft firewalls and AV has hacks to bypass it. Not uncommon for Trojans to simply disbale it, just like the AV packages you talked about. So assuming a worm disables your firewall, displays no rogue characteristics whatsoever. How do you know your computer has been compromised?

If you dont know your computer has been compromised you wont be randomly restoring earlier backups every day.

Edit: Just googled deep freeze. Yes that will prevent infestations. However nothing stopping trojans recording your keystrokes until a reboot.

You need to read the first paragraph before you go on to say that “my argument is flawed”. You googled DeepFreeze but you forgot to google “Trojan Hunter”. :cheegum:

Also google how ZoneAlarm Internet Suite works i.e. features like OS-Level Firewall, Advanced Program control, Application Interaction control, Component control, and if you use Wireless router, ARP Protection. Have fun… :cheegum:

There's a version of AVG that is free for home use and is reputedly as good as other well known brands without slowing your PC down so much

i have so far tried norton, nod32, Kaspersky they were all okay but norton slowed down my laptop a lot. so i have settled with bitdefender and spyware doctor (which you can get free with google toolbar).

Norton 2009 is fast and improves performance

I don't know about others but here are my experience with three:
AVG- Best one so far- really cleaned up the system. The only thing is it refuses to connect for updates.
Kaspersky- lol use ONLY if you know how to.. otherwise it might erase more than just the virus and spyware ;)
ZoneAlarm- Never, ever using this ridiculous thing again. After installing it, my laptop would take twenty minutes to start each time when normally it takes SECONDS. It didn't do anything for the cleaning part either.. my computer was a mess after I installed this. I don't think I have ever had to restart my computer this many times. Finally I uninstalled everything and am now very happy with AVG.

i have tried 4-5 AV but AVG is the best one
and Updates are also working for me
