A friend of mine (Canadian Pakistani) is getting married and moving to Berlin. She is pretty confused what things she should consider, what to take and what not to take, job prospects, cultural conflicts, etc…any help would be great.

Not there at the moment but I've lived there for almost a decade. I would strongly recommend learning the language. Once she knows the language Berlin is quite a nice place to live. Again it depends which area of Berlin she is going to live. :)

Hi,
Your friend should simply contact her in laws and ask them what she should bring or what not? They have been living there for quite sometime so she can expect them to guide her better. What I think is, she should take ethnic clothes, jewellery and other such things with her which are hard to find in Berlin.
If your friend intends to be a working lady then she will face some language problem initially but its good in a way that she will learn German soon. If she intends to be a house wife she should not worry at all because her in laws will definitely talk in mother language. Once she will settle there, she will learn language and culture values of German.
