Can someone care to inform me regarding the Berlin Airlift issue, what is it exactly?
For the past few days, UN has tried to ask NATO for a massive Berlin Airlift.
Does it mean lifting thousands of people from the quake zone and transport them where?

When the Ruskies blocked the roads to West Berlin after WWII, allies used cargo planes to move goods in and out of W. Berlin. They say the planes landed at a rate of one per minute.
U.N is asking the international community for something similar for the earthqake ravaged region in Pak.
