KARACHI, March 23: Leader of Pakistan-based Bengalis Dr Saleh Zahoor at a large public gathering at Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Thursday announced formation of Pakistan Muslim League Sher-i-Bengal A K Fazle Haq (PML-SB) and to contest next general elections from the platform of newly-formed party in the whole country.
Thousands of Pakistan-based Bengalis, men and women, elected patron of Pakistani Bengalis Charitable Association (PBCA) Dr Saleh Zahoor as founder President of the new party and urged him to initiate political struggle for their rights.
Addressing a gathering, he said Bengalis living in the country were genuine Pakistanis but they were being denied their right of being Pakistani nationals that compelled them to form their own political organization.
Newly-elected President of the party said Bengalis living in Karachi and other parts of the country voted for every political, religious and ethnic party in last 35 years but they never worked for Bengalis.—PPI
Bengalis are around a million in karachi and they mostly live in Orangi Town which has the distinction of being the largest slum of Asia.If they are united politically and have the right of vote(that is having the NADRA card and not the NARA one)they may grab a seat out of around 40 provincial assembly seats of karachi.They can surely win some union councils in orangi town.
Why did these people come back to Pakistan when they could have simply gone to Indian cities like Mumbai etc which would have been far more convenient?
I am not so sure about it but people say that Indian security forces facilitate these bengalis to cross over into pakistan.
I think they are in india as well in the east bengal area but mainly bangladeshi hindus go to india.
we have to accept this that many people just keep them in their houses as cooks etc because they can work on a salary of let say 3000 rs where a normal pakistani would work for 4500 to 5000 Rs.But there have been some incidents in karachi where a bengali cook working for a seth in defence robbed their house and disappear the same day.
But i dont know about the pay of servants in india because here in karachi they earn from 3000 to 6000 easily.
