Benevolent dictatorship: A Solution !

Other day I was watching this show online and Hasan Nisar presented this idea of **Benevolent dictatorship **in Pakistan . Here is the clip

Here is the definition

What you think that should we really give up on our current political leaders and say goodbye to democracy from Pakistan for now ? Should we choose benevolent dictatorship ? or any other out of the box thinking ?

Lets discuss the ideas not the personalities please .

So in other words we will take Volunteers for the Job and not Party Leaders?..

Re: Benevolent dictatorship: A Solution !

No, we can't afford any dictatorship. We need to have an effective check and balance system instead of opting for one-man-show. Otherwise it will endup like peer-mureed show. Political parties already have this dictatorship within themselves like Bilawal is already next PPP chief without being in Pakistan, without having 1st hand knowledge of issues, all the PPP workers are just labors for the party. We need to be patient as well as vigilante against govts' excessiveness.

Re: Benevolent dictatorship: A Solution !

Yea well thats what I was thinking about too , that ok lets have a benevolent dictatorship , but from where to get it . You can't just go to walmart and buy it with a return policy . They can't drop from the sky either . So even if we discuss about this ideology then who will provide that workforce to implement it . We need the selfless leaders that we don't have .

Hasan Nisaar is a pseudointellectual jackass whose ass is always for rent. give him enough dollars and he will curse his own parents. he's got all the credibility of a used condom. full of noise... no substance. his only goal is to spread despair, disappointment and anarchy among people.

he for me is the same category as Qiaymat Masood and Zaid Che Hamid, i.e., intellectually dishonest media wh0r3s.

as far as the benevolent dictator concept is concerned, it is an absolute sham. there is no such thing. we keep looking for one in everything. we want the shortcut of praying for a messiah who will come, wave his magic wand and fix everything. that's now how it works. democracy is the only solution. and it is hard work. takes time. we want short cuts.

the reason why people like Hasan Nisaar are bothered by it is because if democracy continues, people get more aware of their individual rights and freedoms which means they won't be putty in the hands of spin doctors like Hasan Nisaar and Qiayamat Masood who exploit and make millions off the poverty porn of ordinary Pakistanis. benevolent dictatorships also benefit Hasan Nisaar and his ilk of people because they generally have excellent relationships with the dictator that they use for their own personal benefit. look at Qiyamat Masood for example. for years, he opposed Musharraf the dictator on TV. yet he was in bed with the same dictator at the same time. if that isn't beghairati and dishonesty, I don't know what is. Hasan Nisaar is the same.

Hasan Nisaar lives in a multimillion dollar mansion in an area where former ministers of Musharraf also live. the question arises that Hasan Nisaar beeches and wails about the corruption of politicians who according to him don't care about the poor ordinary Pakistanis. well, how much does Hasan Nisaar care for them living in a multimillion dollar palace? where did all these millions come from?

Re: Benevolent dictatorship: A Solution !

and please don't say discuss the topic - not the person. no topic can be discussed without looking at the credibility and motivations of the person discussing the topic at hand. Hasan Nisaar has no credibility, no integrity and his only motivation is personal greed and self benefit.

Re: Benevolent dictatorship: A Solution !

:smack: there is no such thing as benevolent dictatorship. That is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

What Pakistan needs is to get rid of British style parliamentary democracy. We need a Presidential system like the US and Iran.

Presidential system is kind of a 'Dictatorship' however the people directly elect the dictator and after a few years can fire the dictator.

The President is not as much encumbered by the Parliament in formulating policies as a Prime Minister is in a Parliamentary System.

However at the same time people have also elected the parliament which provides a check to the Presidential dictatorial powers.

A Presidential system can be a good democratic approximation to a "benevolent dictatorial" system.

One could theoretically directly elect, say Imran Khan, without having to elect PTI representatives in each and every constituencies. Which given Pakistan's patriarchal political system is simply not possible.

(I am not advocating Imran Khan necessarily, just citing an example).

:smack::smack::smack:

Benevolent dictatorship is a sham. It is impossible to provide safeguards against the abuse and corruption of power than normally results from placing that much power in an individual.

Parliamentary democracy, a form of conducting affairs by mutual consultation, provides a check on power.

No. The US and Iranian system places too much power in the hands of an individual. Authority should rest with parliament, a body of many citizens, rather than in an individual.

The encumbrance that Parliament enforces on a Prime Minister is a good thing, as it ensures national consensus on actions.

It also avoids problems of policy differences and political deadlock between the head of government and the body of representatives.
