Unless you are perceived to be involved in terrorism, your rights remain unchanged. If you are involved in terrorism, then whether you are US-born or not, gora or peela, it won't matter.

So, what happens if you don't renew your NICOP card after it expires? Are you again pnly a US citized and all becomes normal?

Actually, I think that it depends how you enter your home country. Even if you are a dual citizen and carry a pakistani passport/NICOP, if you enter Pakistan on a Paki Visa on your blue passport, you are a U.S citizen there with RIGHTS or so I have heard. But then why would you go thru this hassle of getting a Paki visa on your blue passport if you already have a NICOP and/or paki passport.

Because the hassle of getting the visa can potentially save you from hassle in pakistan if u get in trouble.

^ I think for this reason, POC is best. By definition it is for non-Pakistanis. It gives you visa-free entry and rights to own property etc. Yes, POC is pricier than NICOP but the assorted benefits (especially the fact that it doesn't imply citizenship) gives it an edge.

I don't think so. I have not done any research on this from any authoritative source, but I know several people in UK, who adamantly refused to take dual Pakistani citizenship just to avoid this. They told me that if you are dual citizen, you lose your rights regardless of which passport gets stamped when you enter Pakistan (or any other country). It seems if you are a dual citizen, you are no one's responsibility.

I sent my passport renewal application yesterday with $120 money order for urgent processing. They received it this morning. By urgent processing I thought that renewed passport is to leave their office no later than next day after its received. I am told now that the earliest I can get it back would be at least two weeks from now. I don't mind this but it contradicts what it says on their website. When the heck are they going to get their act together?

NICOP

Do you need NICOP to buy a property or to open a bank account in Pakistan? or can a foreign national buy a property and open a bank account without getting a Pakistani identity card? I asked a few people and I am getting different answers.

Also is it possible to open an account in Pakistan in a foreign currency?

I have been calling them everyday and the officer keeps promising me every day that he will send out the passport that day. He reads and confirms my address every day too. He did that on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. He assures me with all the confidence in the world that the passport is ready to be sent and that it will be sent. Its starting to really pi$$ me off. Every time I call him, he doesn’t remember me or the last conversation I had with him the day before. I tell you, you better have heart of an elephant if you are dealing with the people at Consulate of Pakistan at Houston.

I just checked the tracking number of the return envelope and it hasn’t been mailed yet. I feel like hitting my head against the wall. :bash::2guns::shikari::sadaf::mad:
