Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
moin ji, its ver well OTT to support mr zia. the only reason pakistan got those arms and weapons, cause USA wanted russia out of Afghanistan. yes it might be right we won the war for US, certainly not for People of Pakitan. while defence was strong education, health was completely ignored, economy was just brought to a halt. fundo, drugs, arms and refugees was major influx.
he used Islam to get vote on sham elections.
i thing I do apperciate about him, he made economy so stuck, he kept rupee value too strong, 18 pkr to $ and 22 to pkr to 1 $ when he left, that was great, no other looter later maintained that strength until now.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
topic is BB and Zardari, NOT zia!
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
And another thing, how come there is not even a hint about this in any pakistani paper? From what I have observed, they have never had any problems with their marriage, and I find it strange personally that Benazir has always been with him no matter what, even though Mr. Ten seems like a complete character. He is one of those smooth criminals, who steals but leaves no 'suraagh' behind! The way he smiles is enough evidence to convict him though.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
people tell me that it was zardari and his ghundas that helped bb get a big chunk of votes from interior sindh. dont know if that would still apply with the couple in exile for so long.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
^ BB doesn't need Asif's ghundas to get votes from interior Sindh, I think interior Sindh belongs to PPP esp BB (Bhutto name).
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
Even though i supported Nawaz for some time, i have had the opinion that BB is a much wiser person a much more shrewed politician then Nawaz. I firmly believe that we need a PM from one of the minor provinces. Its gonna be some fascinating political manoeuvring before the sep presidential elections though. Interesting to see which parties end up in alliances.
I think a divorce can only have a positive effect on BB. I agree with the view that in our society a divorced women is not seen highly but this saga has been documented so well and almost everyone sees Zardari as negative figure that a separation can only leave BB as a "Muzloom" women suffering at the hands of a man despite her stature. I ampretty sure it will only help her cause
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
Divorce would have no effect. If does, that'll be positive.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
Nope, they are very wrong.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
Benazir won't loose a single vote if she divorces Zardari. And she isn't innocent in corruption done by Zardari. What i read in newspapers during her regime was that she described him as "one window" for everything people wanted to do in Pakistan.
As far being a better or worse among BB & Nawaz, its tough call.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
As long as he is in uniform "wardi", he will win elections in any place against anyone. He is not afraid of BB or Nawaz, he is afraid to step down as army chief, coz if he does, he will be removed by his own chief of army staff.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
exactly.
and not only that, he might face some charges too. Afterall, a lot has done which is against PK's constitution.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
leaders follow pakistan's constitution? hmmmmmm okay
does changing it left right and center also be considered wrong. I am just thinking back a few years ago and what was happening.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
I dunno about Zardari being a big vote grabber for BB, but it is true that a lot of ghunda tactics (via the waderas) are used by the PPP in interior Sindh to get votes. Just like the MQM uses similar terroristic tactics in urban Sindh, and other parties in the feudal parts of lower Punjab get upto to the same thing. I have witnessed some of it myself first hand. Millions of people in Pakistan don't ever freely vote for any party, but are coerced into doing so by by threats to their livelihoods by the local wadera, party heads, biradri chiefs etc.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
the but factor
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?

Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
She was on TV and dismissed the rumours. However, something is fishy here, it just seems like they are living seperately and maybe she does not want to associate her husband to her party anymore.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
no, its “the lets not give a free pass to our buddies” factor ![]()
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
the fact that she even chose to address this shows that something is up.
Re: Benazir & Zardari - the end of the affair?
It seemed strange to me when during her attendance at Pakistani wedding in Dubai a few weeks ago, she was seated on the same sofa with Chaudhury Shujaat, when pictures were taken with bride & groom. This is traditionally where you sit with your own husband. Zardari was not pictured at that wedding so maybe he was in his penthouse in New York.
