'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

I hope this is not true. :frowning:

**‘Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea’

**In a significant revelation, a new book has said North Korea had got nuclear technology from Pakistan in 1993, with the then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto personally carrying the sensitive material in her overcoat during a visit to Pyongyang.

Pakistan gave uranium enrichment technology to North Korea in return for missiles, says the biography of the slain PPP leader authored by her close friend Shyam Bhatia.

The ‘enrichment for missiles’ barter took place in 1993, says the book “Goodbye Shahzadi” whose author cites the information revealed by Bhutto herself during a conversation with him.

As secret services of India, Russia and some western countries were closely monitoring every move on Pakistan’s military research, Bhutto had decided to herself carry the sensitive material to Pyongyang to avoid detection, the book says.

“As she (Bhutto) was due to visit North Korea at the end of 1993, she was asked and readily agreed to carry critical nuclear on her person and hand it over on arrival in Pyongyang,” the book claims.

“…before leaving Islamabad, she shopped for an overcoat with the ‘deepest possible pockets’ into which she transferred CDs containing the scientific data about uranium enrichment that the North Koreans wanted,” it says.

Re: ‘Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea’

Did they have CD’s in 1993, I thought in those days it was floppy discs & disketts…

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

she also carried few pounds of uranium in her hair, right Aalsi?

Re: ‘Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea’

lols
jeez there are no boundries of bollywood film style imagination!

she sworn as prime minister in late october 1993, and within two months she VISITED NORTH KOREA! and since “secret services of India, Russia and some western countries were closely monitoring every move on Pakistan’s military research, Bhutto had decided to herself carry the sensitive material to Pyongyang to avoid detection” :rotfl: so since she was PRIME MINISTER of PAkistan, her activities were INVISIBLE to all these "secret services. oh boy, she was indeed one of FANTASTIC FOUR. :chai:

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

It is a shame that Pakistan's name is being tarnished by using half truths and rumors.

It is a well understood concept that Pakistan's nuclear program was being abused by many. Some of those came on national TV and confessed their crime.

I seriously doubt that a lot of nuclear material actually moved from Pakistan to another country.

The real damage was done when some crooks sold the secret and sacred knowledge that was precisely Pakistan's strength.

Pakistan's strength came into being thanks to Western trust on Pakistan when a Pakistani became IAEA's chairman. Back then, as a chair, that Pakistani gained intimate knowledge of the suppliers who could provide bits and pieces of the bomb.

Remember that Pakistan doesn't have technical ability to actually manufacture the bits and pieces for the bomb. These bits were stolen, bought, or bribed out of the West.

Each developing country including Russia (back in 1940s), China (in 50s'), India (in 70's) had their clandestine network to procure dual use technology from the West.

The only difference was that Pakistani network got abused by some Pakistani megalomaniacs who shared or sold dual-use suppliers' info with North Korea, Iran, and Libya.

That was utterly shameful and we'll continue paying for these mistakes.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

They even had them back in 1986.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

They even had DVD in 1863.

And Benazir also carried five kilo of heroin with her. North Korea then smuggled that into India for itimes of india reporters and editor by their presidents 'wife' in her................... and everyone thought she was pregnant!!!

I think we should start believing in flying soccers and green skinned aliens.

Thanks for the funny thread.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

Times of India has a great website but most of the news they publish isn't authenticated there. Aalsi bhaijaan, please dont trust them

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

Im not joking about CDs being around in 1986, though I am not saying this article is authentic or not.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

:Dive sen soem olden time ones..dey used to be way bigger

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

Yes, Actually it was invented back in 1979, I just opened my old computer architecture book from school. The reason why I said 1986 was, that I remember an episode of Airworf, where Santini loads of a CD-ROM in a drive inside of Airwolf. The wiki link also says 1979, and ABBA in the early 80s released one of their albums on a CD too apparently.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

Those were different, the CD, or Compact Disc has always been 120mm. LDs, MDs and other things were all diff.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

I know the CD's were invented in early 80's or late 70's. The point I wanted to make is the authenticity of the claim by Times of India and its drugged up reporters/editor.

Please remember, one can make any false claim in this world with ANY electronic media stunt.

Re: 'Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea'

That I dont know of, as to how true it is. I was just pointing out a technical fact.

Re: ‘Benazir personally gave N-technology to North Korea’

In 1999 a contract to build two 1000 MWe light-water reactors was signed. The agreement is between the Korean Energy Development Organisation (KEDO), the international organisation in charge of the project, and the South Korean utility KEPCO, bringing technology to build a nuclear power plant which is not amenable to misuse. KEDO was set up following the 1994 deal involving the USA to head off the production of weapons plutonium from the small gas-graphite reactor and to provide much needed energy - in the short term fuel oil, but eventually electricity.
