Correct. He is too great a leader to be compared with BB. But, Benazir Bhutto can most definitely be compared to Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines, General Sani Abacha of Nigeria and Mobutu Sese Soku of Zaire. I am sure people know why that is :)

*"I would like to be remembered for symbolising democracy in Pakistan and the Muslim world and for heralding a world of democracy in Pakistan.
But above all I want to be remembered for what I did for women.
My identity comes ultimately from being a woman and I felt that my life has to make a difference to the lives of other women so in terms of population control or in terms of exposing domestic violence or in terms of permitting women easy access to credit to start business of their own, I have always done my best to allow women to succeed."*
wow..she did all that by herself?
and by her big talk i thought she had only done some small stuff like stopping honor killings, or doing more for women’s rights.
One cant satisfy all and cant make happy every one in this world.. the things small or nothing to u may be big for someone.. as far as honor killing and other stuff are concerned its our own responsibility as a society.. giving respect and honor to women cant be forced..
nadia, if you were in Pakistan in the early 80s, you would know what shes talking about… I remember how people accepted her when she came back, even though i was very very little at that time, but everyone was rallying for democracy, and the Movement for the restoration of democracy was at full flow. Junejo (may Allah grant him a place in heaven), the PM at that time held a 40th birthday of Pakistan in Lahore, and no one showed up at his event, just because of BB.
As for helping women, she was very sympathetic to their cause. Remember the Zainub incident? How Benazir personally made sure justice was given to her and she was sent abroad for medical treatment? I also remember our massi (old widow who used to work at our house) got a plot from benazirs secretary naheed khan.
Another thing I give credit to Benazir was the fact that she finally got rid of Polio in Pakistan for good, through the excellent vaccination programs she initiated.

Degas
I would think that someone who portrays herself as a savior for women's rights in pakistan would have done a tad bit more than the diddly squat that she managed to accomplish in her two terms.
