Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"

but now he is willing to do its "khasara' by not dealing...and NS is the only popular among all 4 provinces equally..

Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"

Nawaz Sharif has zero popularity in Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan and most of Punjab (except a few urban centres), so I don't know what you are talking about. Whether one likes it or not it is the PPP is a party that has a votebank in all four provinces, particuarly Punjab abd Sindh, followed by NWFP, and Balochistan. After the PPP one can say the MMA is also a "national party" as it has won large votes in all four provinces, especially NWFP and Balochistan. But PML (Nawaz) has always been a pretty limited outfit created by Zia-ul Haq, and now rudderless with it's leader preferring to live it up in expensive apartment in London, rather than be with "his people". Coward.

Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"

^^ sir jee..in 1997 elections..NS got the biggest vote bank in history of elections in pakistan..though small elections...and made government in all 4 provinces alongwith central government...

yes..it was the biggest mistake of NS...that he mada a deal....but it is wrong to say that NS was not or even is not a popular leader....

and what BB is doing...in the feet of General and US senetors...all we know that...is not BB negating all its popularity and Bhutto name cause by this childish deal .....

Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"

Turnout was the lowest in Pakistani history (26%) as well, and they were the biggest farce in our time as well. Not many see those as a truly repesentative election believe me.

It’s quite amusing to see the opposition parties at each others throats, especially at this time. :hehe:

PPP senator lashes out at Qazi for criticising Benazir

By Rauf Klasra

Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Senator Enver Baig on Sunday blasted Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President Qazi Hussain Ahmed for attacking PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto and reminded him of his unfulfilled promise made two years ago to resign from the parliament in case the National Assembly passed the Legal Framework Order (LFO). “By following the precedent set by General Musharraf, who had also vowed to doff his uniform that he never did, Qazi Hussain also did not fulfil his own promise to resign,” reminded Enver Baig, who is in London these days. Talking to The News, Baig said: “Talk of resigning from assemblies aside, the same Qazi along with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Shaukat Aziz, Farooq Leghari, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and rest of the government MPs was seen standing obediently in long queues to vote in favour of the LFO.” Sharply reacting over Qazi’s criticism against Benazir Bhutto, Enver Baig wondered how could such politicians, who had made false promises, now target Benazir Bhutto. He said no one else but these MMA leaders were first to betray the political forces in 2004 by voting in favour of Musharraf to stay both as president and chief of the army staff.

Baig said ironically, today no one remembers, not even the otherwise very vigilant media, that the same Qazi had announced to resign on the floor of the House but later voted in favour of Musharraf within the parliament. He lamented that in Pakistan no one recalled acts of these religious leaders, but everybody was quick to taunt Benazir Bhutto about something, which she never did. He said if today General Musharraf is ruling Pakistan, the credit for it goes to the MMA leadership, as they had extended help to legitimise his rule. In return the MMA got the opposition leader’s slot in the National Assembly in addition to a lion’s share in the provincial government of Balochistan and chairmanship of many lucrative standing committees, he alleged. Baig said these people were again betraying the people of Pakistan by posing as the genuine opposition

PPP accepts Musharraf as de facto president’

LAHORE: Senator Latif Khosa of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said on Tuesday that his party had accepted Gen Pervez Musharraf as the de facto president of Pakistan. “We don’t want any direct collision with Pervez Musharraf because we don’t want another martial law with another general coming in and telling us the norms of democracy,” Khosa said while speaking in an ARY television programme.** “How can we not accept Musharraf as president when in fact, he is the president and we have to accept it?”**
