Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
the fact that they can have this opinion publically, is telling because they could not even write such stuff during previous regimes.

Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"
How do you feel about the dictator who came up to clean corruption aligning himself with the current most corrupt leaders in the world?
This shud include MQM
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"
leaders baba, not parties.
but I agree, lets toss leaders, workers and supporters of all these corrupt political partes in jail. and since all parties are corrupt. with the exception of Imran's Therik e insaaf so only his supporters and ppl who dont support any parties get to avoid jail
yaaaaay

Previous regimes were constantly criticised in the media, esp BB's, with Zardari being a 'media favourite', so I don't know where you get that opinion from
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"
really?
lets do this
go pick up any random news real from zia's era, BBs area and Nawaz's era, and then compare it the ones today.
while you are at it, go pick up any week's worth of newspapers from those eras and compare then to today, and then prove that reporting back then was as free as it is now.

I'm dying to see your proof of MQM corruption.

Sure, that is a very realistic idea to spend hour's looking for pre-internet papers...which is why u suggested it.
Surrey Palace scandal, and other things were reported while BB was in power....sorry, but you ain't on the right side on this one dude!
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"
I am not doubting that there was some reporting, but not at the level it has been now. I never said it was non existant, but that it was minimal compared can be written now and what can be on TV now.
You can continue to pretend that is not the case however :)
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for "deal with Musharraf"
He also aligned himself with the MQM. How do you feel about that?
He will align with anyone who can keep him in power. Chaudhry's --- Enough said. Anyone besharam enough to align himself with such people can do anything.
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
FIRST TEST: Sources say the ‘deal’ envisages a post-election arrangement and not an electoral alliance. If the ‘deal’ comes through, its first test would be in the present national and provincial assemblies, when Gen Musharraf seeks a second term as president while remaining in uniform. It is being said the PPP will protest but, unlike the Jamaat-i-Islami, its members will not resign. Instead, they will abstain. A similar strategy could be adopted by other ‘moderate’ groups like the ANP. Some architects of such a move say there is also a possibility that even the JUI of Maulana Fazlur Rehman may prefer to abstain, thus giving a clear passage to Gen Musharraf to get himself elected by a simple majority.
A final formula is yet to be worked out, but in the next phase a kind of level playing field will have to be provided to all political parties in the general election. However, there has still not been any agreement on Ms Bhutto’s return, and some top government leaders are deadly against allowing her to campaign for the elections. Once the elections are over, it is being suggested, a broad-based government is likely to be formed with a major role for the PPP. It is also being proposed that such a government should be a headed by a person who is acceptable to all the groups, with the PPP having the slot of deputy PM. Some people say it also suits Ms Bhutto as she may not like to see the emergence of another candidate for premiership from her own party. Along with the government’s formation, General Musharraf would be expected to relinquish the post of the army chief and, through a vote of confidence, will be accepted as the civilian president.

and the guardians of democracy who are making secret deals with him are doing it for their own power or for the greater good of humankind?
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
Two wrongs do not make a right. :nono:
Those guardians didn’t come to power making promises that within months they will clean the system. The only thing he did was to align with them within months. he is no better than them. Works both ways.
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
nope, so lets not support other wrongs, their covert operations, pressure tactics and all, right?
oh and those guardians did come in promising a lot of stuff. I mean yeah 'shaheed kay khoon ka badla" was not really a promise, but aside from that many other promises were made by benazir, and by nawaz. Lets see how muchof their attempts to come to power recently have been blasted by those who are blasting musharraf at any chance they get. If you are going to oppose him for being in power for his wrongdoings, then by the same token you dsould oppose B and Nawaz etc for attempts to come into poer ..based on their wrongdoings, right?
The fact that I dont see it, is telling.
I dont really see proof of them keeping to any of their promises, unless filling their own pockets was some campaign promise that I did not read about.
yeah 2 wrongs do not make a right, however I would oppose one wrong on its own, and not in a way that it strengthens or emboldens others who have a list of their wrongs read to swiss courts, british courts, US Congress etc.
Thank You, Drive Through
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
who’s pretending here, be honest…anyways..
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
well maybe you are not pretending, and just simply cant recall, I can buy that ![]()

Nawaz and BB did wrong, agreed. Now will you agree that Musharraf is wrong as well. Just to say that because BB and Nawaz were wrong so lets not point fingers at Musharraf. Why? They are the past he is current, why should we not point fingers at him for his wrong doings.
Re: Benazir blasted by Nawaz Sharif & Fazlur Rehman for “deal with Musharraf”
well said
While BB,NS etc were put in office by the people of Pakistan, Mush used the gun’s the people provided to break the constitution and forcibly take over, why…because he said Pakistan needed to be saved from the same people he then chose as partners
As for his many, many promises made in his 8 years, starting with his 7 point plan, time has proven it all to be lies

sure, point fingers, but lets keep the finger pointing in perspective.
critique what he is doing wrong, but appreciate what he has done right. Is that the case though.
I have always shown my disappointment when I dont agree with what he is doing. I cant say the same for others who dont have the ability to criticize their beloved BB and Nawaz.
As recently as 2 days ago I had written about my disappintment about hm and the deals that are being made by that cancer known as Benazir.
sadly majority of the critics loyalties lie with teh crooks i noted. Their absence of views when we discuss corruption and lamness of nawaz and BB speaks volumes about selective finger pointing.

That is exactly what I said in my post above that he would deal with anyone to keep himself in power. No principles at all.
I appreciate his economic policies but one set of policies should not be allowed to over rule what he is doing to harm national interest in other areas. Attacking judiciary and press being two of them. :)

sure, this power wrangling is disappointing. But we cant say oh the big bad dictator will do anything to stay in power without saying that our guardians of democracy whom the mindless automatons support are cozying up to military regime..for their own designs on power.
On one hand Benazir says she wants Musharraf out of his uniform, while she is in bed with him at the same time. I guess your guess is as good as mine on what she really wants.
