^ yeah it’s much easier when the instructor is telling you what to do. These days what I do say if Im not doing a class, I run for 20 minutes on the treadmill and then do my crunches on the ball - its fun and it really works.

Try watching your total caloric intake - write down everything and use the mirror to judge your progress. Cutting on carbs and adding protein might also help.

Weighted crunches and weighted lower leg raises - two excellent exercises for abs
They hit the upper and lower abs respectively and do so very effectively.
