I know it’s hard, especially for me as I do not like nice people, so I tend not to act like one. But something came over me yesterday, I was nice and I didnt gain anything from it, not even warm tingly satisfaction feelings!
I helped out at the school summer fete, I made fresh candly floss for all the ungrateful little rats, I had candy floss stuck in my hair and my eyelashes, all over my clothes, I smelt of sickly sweet candyfloss the whole day, and I even managed to get red dye on my very expensive cardigan (It refuses to come out), I even missed the England match. But I am not bitter about it one single bit. Promise.
I’l tell you something for free though, being nice is extremely hard work. How do people manage it? I don’t think I have it in me to do it again.
U were being nice to children. even if they did appreciate what you were doing, they wouldn't waste their precious time meant for having fun in order to come and say thankyou. they're brats. but they're more clear hearted than you and me : )
one of them may come up to you sometime later and say 'fank u for the candyfloss' with a shy smile.
your case aside, imo being nice won't 'pay' if you look to derive satisfaction for it from others' reaction to ur good deed. though i know all of us do it at some point in time.
doing your good deed of the day makes you feel nice only if you do it without being too aware of the fact it was a 'good' deed.
