being mindful of the kind of words...

people use when they refer to other people as for their appearances, etiquettes and family status.
many a times, some uneducated or even ‘educated’ people refer to other people is very degrading words, make remarks that are obscene as well as highly untoward and detestable.

what are the best ways to prevent such people from speaking in words like that?

share your thoughts on this social ill, if you like.

Re: being mindful of the kind of words...

^Dushwari, a long psychological explanation about behavior of such people can be given, we can find reasons as to why someone would opt to be disparaging about others, we can also justify their behavior in the light of their upbringing and inheritance, and all that can be summed up in one line
**
" we can teach those who don't know how to respect by respecting them even when they don't deserve that"

**That also reminds me the story of an old lady who use to throw garbage in the way of Prophet (PBUH), one did she fell ill and couldn't throw the trash, Prophet (PBHU) knocked her door and asked if she was alright. That great gesture brought her under the marquee of Islam.
