. Whenever i go back home to visit my parents me and my mom engage in a 1 minute long bear hug! hehe.. apart from that i think when you meet elders it is ok if they kiss you on your forehead because thats a sign of the respect we have for our elders and the love they have for us.

as for with friends, yeah the rib cage breaker hug is a must! especially if you’re meeting after a long time..

ive been living with lotta arabs recently and they have the custom of sloppy kissing on the cheeks every time they meet.. now that i hate..

I'm a hugs person but definately not a kiss person. Can't remember the last time I kissed anyone at all. It may have been my mum about 6 months ago on her birthday.... but then again, I probably just gave her a hug instead.

I never kiss or hug my siblings…and very rarely my mum or dad but I just luv being hugged and kissed by my cousins,khala’s etc!!
It’s just a way (out of so many) of expressing ur ‘love’…and with my siblings n parents I guess I just express it in a diff way

BTW I ahve seen this aunty style trend more recently than before.???

I think Arabs rub thier cheeks and produce a kissing sound but do’nt really kiss on cheeks.

I have lots of hugs in past but always took from my side, but I agree that only close relatives should be allowed to have hugs and may be kisses not every “Aira Gaera”

Hugs are good...we all need hugs...not too certain about kisses. Must be saved for occasions.

Same here. I don't want to/like being kissed/hugged by anyone...guy OR girl. To be honest, I don't even really like shaking hands with people. That other thread on separate bedrooms...that's actually something I'm hoping for...that even though I'll be married, I can still have my own room(or at least my own separate bed).

Say someone you LIKE for any of the above reason,wouldnt you kiss .What can you lose ?Spl. in western context ..no body in Pakistan will get a hang of it say like your prom night or spring break on the beach or just being on the beach in two piece Hmmmmm…you do those things even if it is taboo in pakistan

Actually I didnt do any of those things. Didnt go to my prom, didnt go to Spring break on the beach, and I dont wear a swimsuit. smile
