be it an individual or nation, what are the signs? the signs of being cursed from the creator?

Ussually the signs are so open you can't really miss them.

Thats when you know for sure.

Sodom and Gommorah are a couple of prime examples.

How do you know whether you are cursed by God or you are being tested?

A test will leave you alive afterwards a curse will most likely kill you.

so all the poors vilaggers who were the victim of pakistani flood were cursed and all the corrupt politicians were tested?

Lets not play God and call any natural disaster as 'azaab-e-ilahi' even if we know that everything is from Allah swt but we don't know what it is for. However, what we can do is take these disasters as reminders, mend our ways, ask for forgiveness and help each other out (esp the affected ones).

One thing is definitely azaab-e-elahi captain1 sahab. The govt that we have.

^ but is that really 'natural disaster'? :) That is man-made disaster, so its more like self-inflicted azaab :D
