Being a Wedding Guide/Planner ... How to?

I am thinking about taking it up as a profession. I have helped quite a few brides already with their wedding planning but more like a friend and not really like a business thingy.

Any suggestions?

Re: Wedding Guide/Planner

I think that is a pretty cool idea, I am kinda plannin to do the same but I guess I wod do something related to Event Management side. So it would be fun to organize events as well as weddings.

Re: Wedding Guide/Planner

look into local colleges. a lot of them offer courses that teach you everything from budgeting, taxes, dealing with clients, dealing with vendors, organizing your business, negotiating and writing contracts etc.

theres a lot more to event planning, esp when dealing with brides, than simply deciding which colors will look pretty in what decor :)

those classes are also often taught by successful small business owners and professional event planners and they're a great way of meeting the right people and making contacts.

Re: Wedding Guide/Planner

watch 'Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?'

you might change ure mind, its all abt the stress of being a wedding planner but it seems fun too :)

Re: Wedding Guide/Planner

Honestly, after a very extensive 4yr programme on design i think i have got all kinds of experiences (knowledge) to go straight into this business :D.

I have seen it couple of times. I can understand the stress, its same when there is a wedding in your family :).

Thanks. Goodluck to you too :).
