Beheaded for Drug Trafficking

I’ve read about quite a few Pakistanis who have been beheaded for smuggling heroin into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I’m all for strict punishments as it serves the offender right for breaking the law and prevents other people from committing the same crime but…

…Does beheading someone for smuggling drugs have any basis in Sharia?

a better question would be whether pardoning other nationalities for similar crimes is ok??

whether selectively enforcing these punishments to the non-white indo-pakistani nationals according to 'Shariah'?
