Researchers find that being in a group makes some people lose touch with their personal moral beliefs. When people get together in groups, unusual things can happen – both good and bad. Groups create important social institutions that an individual could not achieve alone, but there can be a darker side to such alliances: Belonging to a group makes people more likely to harm others outside the group.
Re: Behavioural Science : When good people in a group do bad things ..
I think it does for sure LP. In fact it is an important factor, one feels the need naturally to stick to their own side and that can sometimes cloud reasoning abilities.
But its amazing , how being in a group commands extra control of one's conscious efforts to remain on the right.

Humans stick to their groups. They do whatever everyone else is doing in hopes of not being perceived as different. Its very interesting, I watched a video in class where an actor and actress was pretending to be violently ill on a busy street. Nobody would come to help them, despite clearly seeing that they were in need of assistant. I think it was half an hour later (enough time for somebody to die without help) did somebody finally break free of the 'group' and help the actor/actress. For some people its understandable, what if that person is a murderer or wants to mug you? But then again, what if they aren't and they really need help? Its interesting
I don't know if this is related or not but I found it really interesting.
